Oklahoma City, Brooklyn progressing on a Brook Lopez package that includes Jeremy Lamb and Kendrick Perkins, league sources tell Yahoo.

Seems like a smart deal for both sides.

OKC still has Adams when Lopez goes down. When he is healthy that offense is going to be amazing.

Nets, start digging themselves out of this mess. Perk will come off the books this offseason and Lamb is a nice young SG. For a team with no picks and very little youth its a good start.
if that's all the Nets get for Lopez, the GM should be fired.  he may be injury-prone but when he's on the court he'll make OKC deadly on offense.   at least one 1st rounder should be coughed up by OKC.

Look at what we got for Rondo and then ask yourself if Lopez is worth more. I prefer Lamb to a late 1st myself.
I'm not proposing an either/or with Lamb and the 1st.  it should be both.  Lamb isn't a top prospect.  he still hasn't shown he's a solid rotation player yet.  Perk is toast and is basically filling the center spot through the rest of the season and providing cap relief next year.

to balance out the talent, a 1st should be going from OKC to Nets.

I think Lopez is huge for OKC.  Finally someone for Durant and Westbrook to dump off to.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I understand OKC's reasoning because they did need another big and they had to get something for Perk's awful expiring contract, but Lopez isn't exactly ideal. He fits the 3rd scorer type but he is soft. Neither he or Ibaka are good rebounders for size (In fact they are almost pathetic) and Lopez is going to want touches. Durant and Westbrook do make life easier because they can't be left alone and neither can Lopez, but is he going to do more harm or good? The real issue is defense. Lopez isn't a rim protector either. Granted Ibaka can help him, but how much can Ibaka run a defense in the post by himself.

I consider this much like JSmoove going to Houston. It's not a perfect acquisition, but the teams had to do it.

I sort of agree with you, but there aren't a lot of teams excited to pay Lopez nearly $17 million next year, Nets included.  OKC might be the only one, really, since they're over the cap regardless next year and want to show Durant they're not costing him a title by being cheap.

Billy King should be in trouble for getting into this mess, but if he got out of it by getting Lamb and a large trade exception if they find a taker for Perk, he's done all right this round.

yes, in the eyes of most GMs lopez is probably worth more than rondo. pg is a position that is very, very deep in the nba. there are lots of good pgs around. getting a credible pg is easier than getting a center who can score nearly 20 points and pull down 7 rebounds, which lopez was doing until this year.

Well, actually what we got for Rondo was:

1st Dallas
2x 2nd Minny (Wright)
Crowder
12.9M TPE
5M TPE (Wright)

That's a pretty good haul. Also, there is no certainty that the Dallas pick will be so late. Dirk will be 37 next season and they have Chandler, Ellis, and Rondo as FA's. Losing one of those guys, or having Dirk or Chandler slip, or having a young team (NO, Phoenix, Sac) emerge could mean Dallas slipping into the lottery. Houston, SA, OKC, LAC, Mem, Por, and GSW are still there, so all it takes is one team to pass Dallas.

does this mean Jackson will be traded soon ? There are only so many shots to go around , and Jackson has said he wants to be a starter .  Now they have waiters and Lopez as offensive options .

Maybe they would rather have a locked up bradley for the next 3 years , he provides a good defender at the PG spot, allowing Westbrook to play SG more , while still having the ball in his hands .

Bradley , clips pick, cle pick for Jackson

I think this means Jackson will go in FA, I think they'll keep him barring a huge trade to upgrade the guard rotation.

I think Morrow goes in this trade.  I imagine they'll keep Jackson through the year.  He's cheap and they're subject to the hard cap.  They can always hope to sign-and-trade Jackson next summer.

Neither Lopez or Ibaka are capable passers. No big man passing.

I think ball movement is still going to be a struggle for OKC. Everybody that touches it is going to want to put up a shot. Westbrook and Durant only two good passers in starting lineup and those two guys are two best scorers and two of the highest usage players in league.

I expect it'll be tough to get everyone to buy into roles, play unselfishly and as a team.

I think it is still going to be an one-on-one heavy offense.

Is that a personnel problem or a coaching problem, though? Scott Brooks is so blah as a coach - their system is basically, "iso, attack, kick it out if there's nothing there." They've got talent offensively, Lopez will give them a legit low post option. All they need now is an offensive coordinator.

Why does Minny do that? Supposedly Flip was hot for Thad to replace Lopez.

I understand that Young holds a player option for next year, so he might actually be an expiring himself, but isn't Thad Young for expirings poor value for MIN?

Yes, it is.  Don't see Flip doing it without a young player coming back at least.  But maybe they like Lamb.

Brooklyn is "standing pat at this time," on a Lopez deal, Nets source tells Yahoo.

Nets source: "There was nothing we liked."

Could be posturing... Hopefully OKC revives it. They need to start really trying to put talent around KD and Russ before KD reaches free agency.
