got to keep up the full court pressure on keep crowder campaign or we may lose him to a contender-anybody would want this guy coming off bench in playoffs, just for defensive intensity.Crowder is very important piece in a rebuild as i see it with marcus and bradley--keep crowder should be chanted by fans--

I could care less if we kept Crowder.   Get real, his effort level is magnified and any looks quicker and and like their playing hard next to Sullinger.   Even a cow would have a nice shot of looking like they are play hard or a hippo next to Jared.  I think he would be nice for the bench,  I would not over pay him.  I think you always need effort guys but they are also easy to get because their are plenty of guys who can't get by on their talent and have to play hard.

But to me, he is not a priority.   How much would you offer him?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think a deal similar to the one Kostas Papanikolaou just signed would be ideal. $5 million per with the 2nd year being both fully non-guaranteed as well as a team option.

Hopefully, its more salary than he'll be offered, but it'll keep his bird rights with us if he stays in Boston, and if not it gives us a quasi-talented player on an amazing contract to work with.

" he is not a priority", i feel your wrong, it easy for the younger players to see older players that didn't fit in get moved but crowder has a chance to be crowd favorite and with all the draft picks why trade or not pay-crowder should only gain in value--but to ainge his value must be exploding right now and coming into playoffs but please no more 2nd rounders -no more pogo sticks that can't rebound or play d-

I like his D. He needs to develop a better 3pt shot for me to get on the bandwagon.

um, no.

he's the kind of player we already have plenty of --> role-player.

what we need is all-star caliber players.

having said that, I do like him as a role-player.  just wish we had some top talent to start with

would be better to trade him for a pick than lose 5 mil in cap space to retain a backup.

Potentially a nice role player we should  not be trying to overpay role players at this point. Still if he is at a reasonable rate I'd be for keeping him l. Say under $3.5 million per. I'm thinking 4 years 11 million but also giving him a player opt out after year 2. If he plays above his salary he just opts out he at least gets security.

Quote
crowder has a chance to be crowd favorite

Crowd Favorites do not win championships they win over the crowd,   Stop being so sentimental, rarely do you build a team around a second round picks.  I like the kid too, but I am realistic.   He has a finite value which we should not go over in resigning him.

How much do you think he is worth?  I am with IndeedProceed the 5 million range, I would balk if we signed him for 9 million or so.

Useful role players cost $5M these days.  Every legitimate team has 5M role players, bare minimum.

b4 I would even start to think what to do with him I would check how he plays in the next bunch of games ... if he manages to contribute on a regular base there is no reason to trade him away in a hurry - he is still pretty yound and never had much of a chance to show what he can do so far. How looks like a steal atm abd chances are that he gets even better with regular playing time.

In our lineup along with Smart and Bradley it sure looks like they can cause a look of havok even on better teams. The turnovers they cause help the team stay close in games. Without that right now games would suck even more. Just imagine falling quickly behind and staying there in allmost every game whitout the viewer getting the impression of hustle and the boarderline chance of turning the game around. Right now teams have to work in order the get a win against the Celtics. I rather see Ainge giving up on something in the rebuilding process for the fact that I still have fun watching the Celtics games for the reminder of the season. Its not like we would get a future cornerstone for him.

There are other guys to unload first on the roster.

This team doesn't need useful role players.  If we needed useful role players we would have hung onto the half dozen useful role players we dumped over the past two years.

What's more important is finding franchise pieces.  Crowder isn't that.  He's a useful role player.
