As I am typing this I am sure Danny Ainge is on the phone ready to sell off anther player and I will have to retype this whole thing lol. No  but to get the point of this thread with as many trades as he has made we still have a lot of pieces to sell off. Bass, Thorton, Prince, even some of the  new acquired pieces Randolph maybe traded. Hell even some of the younger guys could go if the deal is right. Nobody is safe and if Danny could use some picks at the deadline to improve the team I would be ok with that. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that when he traded Rondo it was a sign that we weren't going to attempt to compete this year. If not when he traded Rajon, surely when he traded Green.

I'm pretty sure this will be another year of attempting to land a good lottery pick. Hopefully we'll reload over the summer and start competing again soon.

I very seriously doubt that any of those guys will be traded, until Danny can get a solid pick in return without taking on salary.

Those guys (IIRC) are all on fairly significantly sized expiring contracts...about $20M if you combine Bass, Thornton and Prince.  If Danny trades those guys out, he's basically trading away the opportunity to sign a Max-contract free agent.

The only guy left that I can think of would be Avery Bradley, but I'm pretty sure he can't be traded yet and his youth fits in with what Danny seems to be going for - which is that anybody on the team needs to be either:

a) No more than 24 year old

or

b) An expiring contract

Of course there is Wallace, but right now there is no real point in trading him.  After this year he will be on his final contact year (and hence he'll become an expiring contact).  At this point he becomes an asset, rather than a liability. Danny can either trade him to a team that wants cap space the following year, buy out his contact (with the stretch provision) or simply let him expire themselves.

Interesting point about a max free agent and those 3 contracts. Even still...I could see Danny trading Thornton and Bass for Gordon and a 1st. Ainge has been very careful to not take on money and I don't think anyone has a clue why except Danny. Maybe he's going to try and make a run at Butler and LMA in free agency? I don't have a clue personally. That being said the Celtics have Thornton Crowder Bass Wallace Prince left as realistic pieces people would trade for. They also have Pressey (lol) but I don't see anyone giving up any asset for one of the worst players in the NBA.

Also to answer the above, Bradley as of 1/15/15 is eligible to be traded.

I think Prince is next to go he has value to young teams making a playoff push as a leader and a 3-D bench guy. Raptors and Blazers seem like fits

Thorton, it has been reported teams have interest  but his contract is tough to match. NO could really use his shooting but Im not sure they can make that work.

Bass is a great fit for a team in need of a 3rd/4th big but its going to be hard to find contracts to match up. If not involved with Prince Blazer may be an option he would be an upgrade over T Robinson.

If we don't buy out Prince I think the Blazers make perfect sense for him. And now that I look at their roster Bass does as well. I don't think they could afford both but one or the other is exactly what they need. A strong veteran presence who is going to fit right into a role and play D. I think Prince fits that role better with his championship experience and winners attitude. They need that locker room presence and poise on the court to make the next leap.

I don't know if this is giving up too much on the Blazers end.... But we could get TRob and Wright for Prince. TRob is a low risk pick up at this point and Wright is an expiring who isn't playing too much for them. Again, not sure if it's too much for them to give up but its really all they could do in making salaries work. The same trade could be made for Bass in place of Prince.

Bass to the Bucks works for me.  They have the cap room to absorb him, Larry Sanders is MIA, and they're playing for a new arena, so winning is important.

If Danny wants expirings in return or at least low cost salary for next year what you have to think about is what playoff teams might have dead weight for matching salaries.

The Raptors Fields 8.5 mil expiring contract is an example.

Yep, and Chuck Hayes. Wouldn't they rather have Thornton and Bass over those two guys?

Detroit too.
