While all indications are that Austin Rivers will be playing for someone besides the Celtics very soon, there's still a slight glimmer of hope that he may remain in Boston.

The deal that would send him to the Los Angeles Clippers to play for his father, former Celtics coach Doc Rivers, has not been finalized yet.

While not speaking about the trade with the Clippers specifically, Danny Ainge acknowledged on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show that there were "some details to iron out" in regards to Rivers' status.

"We're in the process," Ainge said. "There's a chance he could be in a Boston uniform. We'll know more in the next couple of days."

Of course a deal could fall thru. Still seems line he's gone. Someone suggested using DET as the third party (Gigi Datome), with Bullock going to the Pistons. Seems to make some sense considering they're thin at SG.... pretty low risk for DET, and some value for a guy like GD who has a questionable NBA future.

12:43pm: The Celtics have told Austin Rivers that the trade will be finalized today, a source tells Shams Charania of RealGM

12:36pm: The Suns are drawing increasing mention as the likely third team in the deal, tweets Marc Stein of ESPN.com. The involvement of Phoenix, which is under the cap, would allow the Celtics not to have to take back any salary for Rivers, Stein points out, and that would also let the Celtics create a trade exception. The belief is that the Suns covet Bullock, though the Clippers would prefer not to surrender him, according to Stein. In any case, Rivers still hasn’t reported to Boston, though that’s with the permission of the Celtics, who’ve promised him that they’ll send him to the Clippers, and that remains the plan

I think the off season is the way to go.  Maybe, even though the Clips can give more money, we can convince him that the team is his and will be built around him.  Yeah, what was that Aerosmith song, oh yeah, Dream On!  :-(

Clips need to send out another player in that deal.. Probably CDR.
