Hard to believe Stevens can't get his guys to be more careful with handling the ball considering it's not new guys but the same old guys making the same mistakes. mostly Bradley, Olynyk, and Turner.  last night 19 points scored from 23 turnovers consisting of lazy passes and sloppy steals.  we lost by 15, you do the math. I understand there's more to scoring a game than that but it's still a very important stat that can kill a game. also hard to believe that Stevens had to call a timeout just over two minutes into the game to reprimand his starters about no defense and a lazy pass. they just can't figure out that first quarter!!!

They didn't even play Horford or Korver?
Sure, they're beatable, but not for the Celtics.

Sure they are, they're vulnerable defensively from a matchup standpoint. Plus I'm curious as to how their offense will work in a long playoff series.

But they look very very good right now.

That game was a disgrace.

When you are being overplayed you use fakes and backdoor cuts to keep the defense honest.

And Pressey should be the backup point guard. Smart is not a point guard.

Hawks have lost a grand total of twice in December and January, no shame in losing to them.

Of course they are beatable... just put 08' KG Pierce Allen Perkins an Rondo in fron of them and see what happens.... even the CAVS 4 months from now will take them out of the playoffs in 5-6 games. Not surprised by the Hawks are all, they have always been a good team... it's just that the East sucks right now.

Oh and to the OP according to NBA.com we had 17 points off their 12 turnovers and they had 23 points off our 17 turnovers.

Not great to lose that category but that wasn't what lost us the game by any means. They got to the line 13 more times and shot 8 FG% points better than us. That's where we lost the game.

If you're going to say "you do the math" rheatorical device, you should definitely look at the numbers yourself first.

I'll admit I haven't watched many Hawks game, but if they keep up this offensive efficiency and make their shots at the percentage they are I don't see why they couldn't represent the east in the Finals.

The Hawks have beaten Memphis, the Clippers (on the road), Portland (on the road), Utah (on the road), Clippers at home, Dallas (on the road), Houston (on hte road), and Denver at home in Dec/Jan

They aren't just beating up on the east, they're beating up everyone. Heck their two losses are to Milwaukee and Orlando.

DA thoughts on the Hawks recently

Q:Hawks offer hope you can win without high picks

Ainge: "It is inspiring to every team. But the challenge is, do the Hawks have enough to win a championship? The Hawks are a very good basketball team right now. They are an inspiring team and a little Spurs-Like from last year. Both last year and this year, the league is moving more towards parity just in the collective bargaining agreement and how it's set up. We're hopeful. We're always looking to add pieces. We got a couple of good guys in last year's draft that we think are going to be good players. We hope to find some more."

Is this the most wide open year in recent memory?

Fun fact: of the top 6 seeds (3 in each conference) right now, only one has been to the conference finals (Memphis) in the last 15 years.

The Hawks aren't this good without Al Horford, who was the 3rd overall pick in the draft. So they're not exactly an example of winning without high picks, even if they're not like the Thunder or Cavs with multiple high lottery picks as their core.

Clearly, "you do the math" was meant to be taken literally.
