The Cavs-Love situation keeps getting worse...If they keep him they are going to have to change what they're doing with him.  It looks like he needs to be the primary or secondary option on offense.

Any chance they cut their losses and get something for him before he walks this summer?

Would the Celtics empty the vault and trade for him?

Unless there is a rift between Lebron and Love, no.

More to the point, what would the Celtics gain be at this point?  Love doesn't want to join a team with the talent level close to what he left with the T-Wolves.  He would opt out and leave the Celtics at this point.

Maybe if Rondo and Green were still on the team, he might want to stay, but young players and a bunch of draft picks do not excite FA vets sick of losing.

Suggest you modify the heading:  Could Celtics even want Love now?

I can't think of any trades between the Celtics and Cavaliers that would make sense for Cleveland.  They're in win-now mode, and we don't have a lot of win-now assets.

Love has looked (in relative terms) pretty terrible in Cleveland, though.  The defensive effort just isn't there.

Sullinger and Love have a similar PER, and Sullinger is younger.

We just need to draft a good center this year, and that will change everything.

As most everyone has said I'm not too sure we'd want him right now. Could be a waste of assets. If he's willing to come here now he'll be willing to come here in 6 months. We can wait.

They have similar bad D too.   I think we need a new front court, period. Watch Sully at the end of the game last night and tell me you still like his D and effort.

Love has been a let down he has been for the Cavs.   His D is horrible,

This has always been a problem for him folks, this is a video before he went to CLE.  This video was prophetic.   I don't like ESPN often but when I do it is Skip Bayless.

Would we even need to trade for him? Can and will he opt out at the end of the year? I don't see him wanting to come here and start over, but I'd love the thought of him bolting Cleveland. I mean right now that Cleveland team isn't that good with him. Bench is terrible, bad mix of players.

The way that Jared Sullinger is playing for us right now? Being three years younger and ALREADY (IMO) as better defender?

Jared is a good passer and an intelligent basketball player. He's not KLove-like in all areas YET, but he's shown flashes.

Those "flashes" could very well become permanent as he matures in the league and as Danny shapes the roster.

Jared matched Anthony Davis and NO blow for blow and carried BOS just a few days ago. Loved that game. That NO game was one of my favorites of the last couple of years.

That game was yet another indicator for me that "Triboy16" was perhaps right (gulp) ;D and I was perhaps wrong.

I'll admit I was the conductor of the KLove Train back in the summer. I wanted BOS to give Minny the farm for KLove.

Now, I'm not so sure...Jared may be our (future) Kevin Love at this point. Sully's got to continue to lead this team AND get better. If he does this then we don't need Kevin Love.

Love the revisionist history, he played well that game but Davis had 34 points to his 27.   That is about seven blows short of matching Davis blow for blow.

Trouble is that game is not indicative of his norm, it was good game but not even close to his normal performance.  Next game, the effort was not the same.

Love that we didn't trade the farm for LOVE this summer. I was against it. Thank god we didn't get him.

The dude is a nice scorer on a bad team. Terrible defender and not generally athletic enough to be a max player.

I would never trade for him. If he wanted to sign here as a FA, that would be okay, but I still wouldn't want to pay max money for him. Blatt was correct. Love is NOT a max player yet.

The situation in Cleveland is bad and it doesn't look to be anywhere close to improving. I do wish him luck though.

Why would we trade for him, he's a free agent at the end of the year. He'll most likely never sign with us.

The only chance we will have of signing him is if we were able to sign or acquire a big name center to play along side of him. Because the way he defends, he needs one.

Close enough for me (and I'm sure Coach Stevens AND his teammates).

And he's already a better defender...or at least better than what we've seen from KLove in CLE so far.

I expected AD and Asik to push BOS around and dominate - they didn't. Jared showed his versatility, too - he hit at least one from deep. He keeps THAT up? He pulls the AD's of the world out of the paint, and helps BOS.

Plus, you have to consider that he's three years younger than KLove. To place a cap on Sully at this point is not indicative of what he could very well become. He's only 22.

At the time when KLove is supposed to be getting better defensively (In the presence of his majesty ;D), he just isn't, at least not yet.

Sully will continue to get better, and his numbers are trending up.
