A few highlights from the NOP game, most of which will never show in a box score.

Smart creates so many turnovers for the other team by taking charges and playing good defense.

That is why guys like Smart and Crowder are so valuable.

It's amazing the fans that can't see a value in taking charges, playing tough, hard defense all the time, causing turnovers, getting deflections, and just causing havoc on the defensive end. Plays like this weaken the wills of the opposing players.

Turnovers begin to happen, leading to fast breaks and offensive runs.

He has a lot of flaws in his game and nobody knows if he'll be a star or not yet, but even so, how can you not just love this guy for what he is?

Smart is pure Celtic. He's a rookie that embodies everything that's unique about this organization and its culture.

Great words from a great man

Just your average, everyday 5 point, 3 assist highlight reel.  :)

Stats don't do him justice.  Not sure how many possessions he earned us that game, but it was a lot.

Stats will never do him justice.  I hope the refs continue to learn his game so that they can stop calling fouls on him like the one at the .47 second mark.

He moves his feet so darn well and when you add that in with his size, he's going to be a tough hombre in the league for years to come.

If you look at the replay, he fouled him at :58 seconds

I disagree. Bumping an opponent with the body is not a foul as long as the opponent is not in the air.

Watching Smart, Bradley and Crowder play inspired defense together was delightful. I could get used to that.

The rebuild need not be painful, regardless of record (and that type of effort will win NBA games).

Yeah, the video reminds me a little bit of the game highlights on the NBA 2K games from a few years ago when you're like, "Why is that a highlight? All he did was miss a shot."

No, no I get it, though - just looking forward to the day when he actually posts decent statistics to ago along with all of the 'little things'.

I was being facetious.  I honestly don't care about his stats.  He probably won us 8-9 possessions in that game.  You could make a case that he had a 25-30 point impact on the game.  What I was getting at with this video is that people throw around stats to say that player x is better than player y, but they undervalue these plays or don't count them at all.

Even seemingly ordinary plays.  Tyreke gets the ball numerous times late in a tight game.  Smart keeps harrassing him all game, fighting over screens, challenging every drive.  Tyreke ends up settling for 20 foot jumpers -- which is exactly what we want.  Or Smart ends up in a 1-2 switch, 1-3 switch, multiple 1-4 switches, and wins practically every time.

How about he do a "Little" shooting inside the 3 point line.
