Hay, guys...
I was wondering if we can use Rondo's TPE for adittional assets and still offer a max next year.
My calculations:
Boston Celtics 2015/16 salary
1) TPE player 12,9m
2) Wallace 10,1m
3) Bradley 7,7m
4) Smart 3,4m
5) Turner 3,4m
6) lets say C's pick #6 3,3m
7) Zeller 2,6m
8) Sullinger 2,2m
9) Olynyk 2,2m
10) Young 1,7m
11) lets say LAC pick #21 1,4m
12) Crowder 1,1m
13) Pressey 0,9m

Projected salary cap for 2015/16 is 66,5m, so even if we use all of Rondo's TPE and sign both of our first round draft picks we can offer some FA's starting salary of 13,3m. If we dont pick up the team option on Pressey, we can offer some FA's starting salary of 14,2m. And if we strech GW contract we can offer some FA's starting salary of 20,9m.

Next year we can make a big leap. Smart, Young, Crowder, Olynyk, Sullinger, Zeller, Bradley and Turner are all young and should be better. Brad Stevens should be better. We are solid team now...if not many close OT losses or close losses we would be in East top 8.

If we add to this young and hungry team one big FA, one solid player for TPE and two very good rookies we should be East top 4 team. And still have 9 first round and 12 second round picks in next 4 drafts (not counting draft pick we can get if we use Rondo TPE to bring some salary).

Danny Ainge did everything that we will have a very good-great team not for 2-3, but next 10 years. We have a great flexibility, unprecedented amount of draft pick, genius GM, hard working coach and ownership that is willing to spend for having a winning team. Present is maybe so-so, but future looks great for any Celtics fan.

This is my first post in 2015, i wish all the best for C's fan all around the World

TPE's take up cap room equal to their amount.  The only reason for us to keep the TPE next summer would be if we want to re-sign our own free agents (whomever those may be) and thus keep the cap holds created by their Bird rights.  This is unlikely, so given our current salary situation, the TPE's will go unused if not utilized at the trade deadline (or draft, I guess).  Otherwise, cap room can do everything a TPE can do and more, so there's no reason to keep it if we have the cap room.

The key phrase is "given our current salary situation", since that is subject to daily change around here.

But if we use TPE on trade deadline or draft night we can aquirre a very good player or aquirre a so-so high salary player with additional draft picks (like when Utah took Jefferson and Biendris from Warriors for 2 unprotected first round picks). And still have a room for a max player.
We will be under the cap. But we will be about 26,2 mil under the cap so we dont have to rennounce our TPE. In our best interes is to use it for ideally high salary expiring contract and future first.

What I'm saying is if we are at our current salary beginning in the free agency period in July, the TPE will be renounced, because it takes up cap room.  You can use cap room the same way as a TPE (to trade for players), but it's more versatile (not limited to the size of the TPE, can be used for signings as well as free agents) and doesn't expire, so it's dominant compared with a TPE, and therefore there is no reason to keep the TPE in July, given our current situation.

I was wondering which team would give us another future 1st to take unwanted high salary player
CHA- Lance Stehpenson 9,0mil, contract 2015/16, team option 2016/17
DEN- Javale McGee 12,0mil, contract 2015/16
DEN- Danilo Galinari 11,6mil, contract 2015/16
IND- David West 12,6mil, contract 2015/16
MIL- OJ Mayo 8,0mil, contract 2015/16
NOP- Ryan Anderson 8,5mil, contract 2015/16
WAS- Nene Hilario 13,0mil, contract 2015/16
or would Utah trade us Derick Favors for our TPE and 2 firsts?
