He's played 22 games, and has already shown serious improvement. Which rookie PG played lights out his first year? Stop. I'll really be laughing when the same people who are saying he is Marcus Banks now will be calling him Kyle Lowry Jr in a couple years. I try to avoid these forums, but I get a headache from some of the posts here.

Have some faith in our rookie who plays his heart out every minute he is on the court. He isn't going to be an all-star his rookie year, no point guard has.

One word. Relax.
8th seed!!

We won't know for sure until Smart develops but at this point I don't see any similarities between the two other than first name and position. I agree the comparisons are terrible.

As far as I know, there's only one person here who calls Marcus Smart "Marcus Banks", and I'm betting the majority of people here don't respect his opinion at all because (1) his posts reek of troll and (2) his arguments are never supported by evidence of any sort.

Remember the games when Marcus Banks was really good?

I see the comparison because of lack of production and body type, but I think it ends there. Smart, even on a bad day seems way ahead of anywhere Banks got during his rookie year. There seems a lot more to like about Smart.
It's unfair to Smart because he has been tabbed as the replacement for a very popular player

The "Smart is Banks 2.0" statement is a completely lazy, naive, & uninformed argument.

Besides body type & position, there really isn't much to it.  Games (especially defensively) are different.

Which rookie PG played lights out his first year?

Magic Johnson.  Penny Hardaway.  Damian Lillard.  What do I win?   :P

Honestly Smart being a prominent enough part of the team to have posters dumping on him is probably a pretty good sign that he's developing well.  I'm excited to see what kind of player he is in a year or two.

Yeah I'm excited for him too.

Though it still pains me to see Turner run the point as much as he does instead of Smart. Feels like we should just let him sink/swim at that position more.

At least they're not talking about 'grit' and 'heart'

I'm pretty sure neither existed in Marcus Banks' case.

I think the body type argument is even shady. Smart has the same body type as Banks in the same way Big Baby has the same body type as Shaq.

Smart: 6'4 220
Banks: 6'2 200

that's a 20 lbs of muscle difference.

Man, Marshon Brooks was another one that was treated like the second coming of Christ by some on these boards.
