Austin Rivers will be traded to the Clippers, but the details of the deal are still being finalized.

Celts will send Austin Rivers to Clippers, but have to wait to clear roster space for two expiring contracts.

I don't want Rivers, Prince or NateRob on this team, at all. The group we have now is just beginning to jell and need the minutes. These acquired players are not in the long range plan so why bother.

We have 15 with austin, if we send him we need another spot to add 2 players but it says we need to clear 2 spots so it seems like it's that plus River's spot.

Sounds like we need 3 spots total, Austin is 1. Is this a 3 team trade? Do Clips have 3 expiring players to give up just for Austin?

We can get the other 2 spots by buyouts of Prince and Nate (maybe Thornton).

I think u are right.  If u have to waive two (Prince and Nate) it sounds like a 3 for 1. The only way it works in the trade machine is 3 expirings for rivers.

Get Hedu, udoh, and CDR. Waive Hedu.

Leaves us with 14. CDR and Udoh are the odd men out but if Bass and Thornton leave, they could actually end up being the 9th and 10th players in the rotation, replacing Bass and Thornton.

at this stage i am beginning to get a headache....over a marginal nba player. geez, ainge is wheeling and dealing at the periphery in ways i never expected. but he has done this all year and picked up talent along the way.

my hats off to him.

or maybe ainge will raid the dleague for 1 or 2 projects. see if they can create a few chicken salad sandwiches.

In spite of the pink warning that I got when I opened this reply, I thought it would be interesting to bump this thread.  The opinions ranged from "there are better guards than Rivers in D-League" and "he is the worst guard in the league" to "we should keep him and see what Stevens can do with him".

The headline today on ESPN is "Austin Rivers propels Clippers past Rockets to Game 3 victory".  25 points on 10-13 shooting.  Wow.  Who saw that coming? (not me that is for sure)  Not bad for the worst guard in the NBA. 

Does this mean Doc is smarter than all of us?

Do we conclude now that Danny botched this and we should have kept him?

Doc must have seen something and decided he was not going to let his son flame out of the league without making sure he had a full opportunity to prove himself.  He must not have thought he was getting that chance in NO.  I also think Danny did this as a favor to Doc.  This has become a very interesting story.
