Found it interesting other fans are talking about Ainge a bit...found this on another board:

__

Genuinely one of the greatest rebuilds in history, and they've barely begun rebuilding.

They got TWO UNPROTECTED 1sts and a PICK SWAP for the aged KG & Pierce.

They got Zeller AND A 1st (did they get that Philly "1st" too? it'll be two high 2nds) for taking on some salary (was it Thornton?)

They got a 1st round pick FOR THEIR COACH!!!!!! FOR THEIR COACH!!!! WHEN DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?????

They got a 1st for Jeff Green.

They got, essentially two 1sts for Rondo - the DAL 1st and then that MIN "1st" (again, probably two high 2nds) by reshuffling Brandan Wright.

All in the span of a year and a half.

In a year and a half, they grabbed basically 6 1sts, a theoretical pick swap, and 4 2nds for the remnants of their team.

This doesn't even include the Smart/Sullinger/Olynyk core that they drafted themselves.

Danny Ainge honestly, GM of the decade, I don't even know how anyone else can compare. This team will be loaded with the most flexible cheap contracts and even if they make a mistake or lose a guy in a trade, they can just draft 5 more guys the next year.

This is hardly even fair, the rest of the league is playing checkers and Danny Ainge is playing 12-dimensional chess.

Sam Hinkie is the JV team. Danny Ainge is GOD MODE.

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

The Brooklyn picks have to pan out first. If we can get 2 lottery picks out of them we will be gold with all the cap space opening up in the next few years .

The tricky part is how many are in the same years, especially when we have so many second round picks in years when we still need to build a core. I see us selling some of those and getting random Euros who are still under contract just so they won't cause roster problems.

Ainge did do a great job collecting bricks, but until he turns that to a house that we can all be proud off, I won't call him God just yet.

Always refreshing to hear unbiased fans of other team's slinging you some praise. Danny has always been skeptical of how the late to post bird era rebuild was handled and he's at the very least put his money where his mouth is in terms of the decisions he made when faced with similar roster decisions.

I actually agree with pretty much every move Ainge has made.   I've been expecting most of the moves.  He's done a fantastic job.

The only possible misfire was not moving Rondo sooner, but it's defensible, because I don't think Ainge anticipated how little Rondo's trade value was.  He probably could have gotten more earlier, but he tried his darndest to fast-track the team by going all-in for Kevin Love and keeping Rondo.  He sort of had to scramble to get any value at all for Rondo.  A late 1st and a couple 2nds (plus whatever we get for Crowder, jameer and the exception) isn't too bad.  Ben McLemore + 1sts would have been better, but we've had conflicting reports about whether Rondo killed that deal from happening.

The nets deal was insane... just insane.  You can afford to whiff a couple times when you pull off such an insane trade.  That said, he actually waited too long to trade KG and Pierce.  They should have been moved a couple years earlier. Ray should have been moved as well (we tried, but the deal was killed).   The Nets bailed us out there... can't believe we got that package for those guys at that point in their careers.  Ainge waited way too long, threw a hail mary last second, and it resulted in a game winning touchdown.

Hold on there....

I'm calling "Pass Interference, LarBrd33"....let's do that down again.

Let's wait to see what Danny actually does with those picks, and the upcoming summers of FA before we just give the gameball to Danny.

We could very much possibly look like THIS guy at Danny's Football Game if we're not careful, LOL:

The draft AND these upcoming Superstar FA's could very well give us the Stiff Arm, like JJ did to the Gov, here.

Let's wait to see what Danny does, here.

Not seeing Jalil or Thon Maker walking through that door, yet.

The only thing that matters is how the picks turn out

The fact that he got ANYTHING for KG and Pierce at that point in their careers is a small miracle.   He waited way too long and somehow still came away with real assets.  Had that deal happened in 2011, it would have made more sense.

So far we have James Young and Tyler Zeller... let's see what else we get out of the deal
