Crowder helping his trade value. Tough decision

I don't really think we got Crowder to keep him.  He's proving to be a very effective player who can help a contender.  He's a restricted free agent.  I doubt Ainge wants to dip too much into the cap space to retain him.  More likely Ainge would want to get picks for him...

Crowder is doing great things for his trade value by performing in the minutes we're giving him.  Almost too well.  Kind of a tough decision here.   Would you rather keep Crowder (and deal with his potential contract) or get draft compensation?

Ultimately I think James Young is slotted in as the long-term solution at that position.  But Crowder is looking good.  Keeping or trading him is a tough choice.

Given the fact this is an active rebuild, I can see him as the 6th man on our team during the next period of contending for the title. The captain of the bench mob, if you will.

Young should be a SG. Has flashes of potential offense, and can make up for lack of lateral quickness defensively with his wingspan. 6'6 and 6'11/7'0 wingspan gives him a clear size advantage.

I doubt Ainge gets more than a 2nd round pick for Crowder.

The most we would get for Crowder is a 2nd round pick. I think it is in our best interest to keep him here and sign him if the price is right in the offseason. A true wing defender is more valuable than a 2nd round pick.

If he's part of a trade that gets us another 1st or that gets rid of Wallace, you trade him.  If all you can get is a 2nd, you keep him.  In all likelihood, he'll be better than whoever you'd get for the 2nd and it is not going to cost too much to retain him.  Probably something like Turner's deal.

If he can be kept for reasonable money, He works his tail off, he's adds toughness, if he ever improved his shooting, you'd have a nice player.

I think he'll probably hang around , his value seems good and might rise on a rebuilding  team where he can get lots of playing time now.
