Seriously though, Ainge is going to be one busy guy on draft night the next few years. He can't possibly use all those selections though, so it'll be interesting to see how he spends them.

One of those 1st rounders for 2015 will be traded before the deadline or else on draft night. I just can't see adding 3 more guaranteed rookie contracts to this team.

Maybe Danny is building another D-league team with those draft picks.

someone on realgm made an interesting point. Maybe he fills out the red claws like a REAL minor league team. Could be innovative

I think most of us believe he'll at least trade a good portion of those picks. He'll probably wait till someone like cousins wants out
I trust Danny Ainge

Holy Crap. In 2016 DA could almost draft an entire team! LOL!

Unless he lets The Spurs make the selections for us---we will get stuck with a bunch of garbage players---Ainge is HORRIBLE at drafting.

Um, I guess so.
he's had hits and misses, just like every single other GM out there. We could all point to great big hits, and we could all point to great big misses, but I've never seen a decent analysis either way that takes into account (a) where Ainge is picking and (b) compares each GM to each other GM.
Celtics fan for life.

A little over the top?

He's a pretty solid drafter.

Let's hope that there are some decent Euro prospects to use all those late firsts and second rounders on.

That would be my first option.  I hope Danny is looking at that as a serious way to use the picks.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I just hope all these picks gets cashed in and/or turn into a player we can build around. I'm afraid that some of these picks will turn into mediocre players because we couldn't move them in a package.

And since Ainge has been sort of 50/50 in drafting players, that's the worst thing that can happen to us. We now have literally A TON of assets, but it better turn out into a franchise player.

Thanks for the info.
They have 4 1st round picks in 2016? Obviously they can't use all these picks.
Something's got to give.

But who would trade their All Star player or their top 5 pick for late first round picks? It's not like we have a promising prospect that we can include with those?

Im afraid we're going to have to use all those picks (which in turn could be mediocre players under contract for a few years), or just sell them for cash.
