it appears we are now benching better players for worse players because we are trying to develop the worse players. Isnt that what the NBA developmental team is for?

I wonder if the season ticket owners are upset when they know that the team can but wont put a better product on the team but still refuses to commit to the tank.

Just seems that winning is not that relevant .   They don't mind a win ......it's ok if it happens and no biggy.  If it don't ...but a loss is ok long as development of certain players takes place.

Makes getting wrapped up in game pointless ......sure Rondo saw this and wasn't going to exert all his energy to win games if winning wasn't the prime objective .

Vet players don't want to live like this , neither to vet coaches

It bad for the fans ...dumping the best or most entertaining players  is tuff on everybody .

The Celtics are doing exactly what they need to do.

It's the marshmallow test, and Danny has passed it.

I don't understand this complaint.  Who is the better player?  Wright?

Bass is much better than the guys playing ahead of him.

You are correct, the Celtics are using T D Garden and other opponents main arenas as "D" League venues and screwing the fans out of seeing the best C's players available every night.

Just another way of tanking without actually saying it!!!  this is not Celtic basketball by any means!!!

Play the kids, or play the best players?  Which is it?  You can't have it both ways.

So you can't be patient enough to let them find a rotation since the trade? You get no practices so you'll have to find cohesiveness via the games. Give them some time.

Will someone admit to the fact that the players we have are pretty good and that if a move had been made earlier for some key players with all the assets and draft picks we have we could have put a competitive team on the floor???  so what are we waiting for???

If we are going to tank we need to tank 100% so we should trade green and bass for picks

Bass is not the future and I argue not any better than anyone else on the team. He can't catch, pass, dribble and often looks like a fish out of water in the low post. Sometimes he makes good plays other times he just forces stuff into 2 defenders that are bigger and better than him. I for one will be glad when he is gone. If your paying to go see Bass you have very low expectations.

Yea I agree he seemed like he had more potential when he was effective two seasons ago but now he is worthless

I see no evidence on the court on statistically that Bass is a lot better than either Sully or KO.  His experience gives him the edge in certain situations, but that all.

I disagree with the entire premise of this thread...  Here's why:

If the idea is development, THEN:

- Crowder would be playing and Green would hardly play.
- Smart would be starting and Turner would come off the bench.
- Wright would be playing and Bass would sit.
- Pressey would be getting all the backup PG minutes behind Smart to evaluate him more.

We're not a developmental team.  We are a mediocre basketball team with a pseudo-star player (Green).  We have Olynyk & Zeller playing up front, both of whom are probably nice backup players.  We have an inconsistent Sullinger, who seems to have the confidence level of an ant.  We have no real PG on this team as Smart is probably more suited for a combo guard off the bench.  We have a starting 2-guard who can't shoot his way out of a paper bag on some nights, and then lights it up the next - but again, Avery is better suited coming off the bench and Danny just gave him a 4-year deal (that I don't agree with).

We are stuck in THE WORST place a team can be: mediocrity.  It's NBA-hell.  You either go all in like the Cavs are doing (overpaying for a guy like Mozgov) or you are all out like Philly (fielding a team of DLeague players).

The players want to win.  The coach wants to win.  The GM has no idea what he wants to do.  And the outcome: we're good enough to be decent, but not bad enough to be awful.  So we'll be looking at a mid-range lottery pick in a draft where you definitely want to be top-3 this year.

And we now will listen to Jeff Green trade rumors, wondering if we'll keep Bass, not knowing if Wright is a part of the future or another of Danny's "assets" (and I HATE that term - you can't follow a team when they're nothing more than pawns that can be moved).  Jameer is unhappy here, and you can't blame him - he chose to sign with Dallas, not us.

If we were a developmental team, the starting lineup would be Smart, Young, Crowder, Sully and Zeller.  And the heavy backup minutes would go to Pressey, Bradley, Olynyk and Wright.  Meaning: Green, Bass, Turner, Wallace, Thornton and Nelson would sit...awaiting their ticket out of town.

A dominant player to become available.

Waiters, Shumpert, Josh Smith, etc. aren't what you're waiting for.

Stay patient.
