I got to know Nate's game because he played for a small mid-major, South Dakota State, right next to my hometown.  He's a really crafty 6'4" PG, decent shooter, albeit with a strange form sort of like Evan Turner.  Underwhelming athletically.  His numbers as a rookie won't jump off the stat sheet, but I don't think he was worse than a guy like Trey Burke.  The numbers don't really tell the story though, the kid can play.  He was buried behind Bayless this year.

Anyways, I think someone will pick him up.  He's reliable, a hard worker, and a gym rat.  GL Nate!

Wolters played pretty well in stretches last year.  He was impressive in the NCAAs too.  Could be a decent backup PG someday.

I doubt Nelson gets cut before we try and move his 3.5 mil owed to him next year, assuming he picks up his option.

I don't get this discussion about 'cutting' Jameer Nelson. Not gonna happen. If you wanna get rid of him, trade him to the Cavs for the corpse of B. Haywood.

I'd give him and Kane a shot and trade Bradley and cut Pressey.

I was under the impression that cutting him--assuming he signs with another team--makes his option for next year disappear.

Am I wrong about this?

You are wrong.  It's a player option, so if we cut him, it's his automatically, unless he declines it before he's cut.  If he can't be traded, im sure he'll be given the choice of declining the option and being released so he can sign with a contender, or keeping the option and being on the roster the rest of the year and maybe next.  We'll see if he chooses money over winning.

Also, next year's option is about $2.8 million, or roughly double what he'd make at the vet minimum next year.

Is there a reason you belittle people you don't like? Professional athlete or no, it's completely unnecessary and incredibly immature.

Right... I guess I meant: if we cut him the option is still his. But what happens when he signs another contract? It must relieve the Celtics from their obligations?

No, it doesn't.  The money is essentially guaranteed as long as Nelson wants it.  If the C's release him from the contract with the option still in tact, it's owed, and will count against next year's cap.  This is why Joel Anthony, who also had an option when we acquired him, was not released.

Said this before.

We rivaled Dallas in having one of the squishiest guard lineup with the two Marcus's.

The addition of Jameer Nelson bolsters our rotundness.

Too bad we weren't able to snag Felton as well. Perhaps not the biggest or tallest, but certainly we would have had the widest guard lineup.

Squishy?  I don't know about that.
