I"m obviously a TarHeels fan. I loved him in college.

Not a huge fan of PER, or bball stats in general, b/c I don't think they account very well for defensive performance. And aside from that, bball is a team game. I expect a player's PER could fluctuate quite a bit, depending on the team they play for. Not exactly crystallized intelligence. But maybe I'm wrong.

That said, I just found that Wright is 10th in the league in PER, 24.27. On top of that, he has shown to be a solid shot blocker/rim protector. So that begs the question... what's up with him? Is he not picking up the offense/defensive rotations yet? Does Stevens just prefer the bigs we have? Is it known within the organization that his time here is limited? I'm lost as to why he, who seemed to be the best return in the Rondo trade (among players), is not even getting minutes. What do you guys think?

Wright is our best power forward, but we are going to trade him because the Celtics are committed to developing Sullinger and Olynyk.

My pet theory is Danny is shopping Wright very hard (he can be moved individually, but not with other players) right now.  So we're playing him minimally to show he's healthy but avoid an injury.  But who knows.

A 7-footer who can dunk is always going to look great (and have a great PER) with Dirk. Playing with this team he won't be as efficient.

Speaking of "stuff".  Back in the days... wasn't the word stuff far more commonly used in basketball?  As in, "he stuffed the basketball"....meaning dunked.  Or, as in, "he went up for a shot and he was stuffed".  Meaning the shot was blocked. It was a far more dramatic word....too bad it's not used as much today.

Someone has to sit, right now it's Wright. CBS just can't continue to play 5 bigs. I would assume someone will go in a trade but if not CBS will have to decide what 4 he is sticking with. Which means either him or Bass sits, because the 3 young guys need to play.

My idea is package Green and Wright (when possible to move with other players) along with one or both of our firsts this year for a lower first (10-15 range) and an expiring or young guy. Seems easier said than done though  :-[
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I think this is a decent theory.  Some players looks better on a bad team (guards who chuck) some look better on a good team.  Wright, who is not someone who creates his own shot, looks better on a good team.  He's been in the league long enough that everyone knows what he can do -- showcasing him for a month with players who can't help him get shots isn't going to help his value, and as you noted, an injury certainly will hurt it.

If he makes it here past the trade deadline, expect his minutes to take a big jump as the team decides whether or not to re-sign him in the summer.

Wright is better than Olynyk and Sullinger.

He has length and he can defend the paint.

But it is just like Humphries, he's a good player, but Danny is committed to Olynyk and Sullinger.

Probably because Olynyk and Sullinger have the capacity to get better than they are now, which is probably not the case with Brandon Wright.

Not only that Brandan Wright is an unrestricted FA who has a more limited if more efficient game than Sullinger/Olynyk.
