the c's have little outside shooting from the guard and small forward position. bradley has had a relatively poor year from 3 (.325, 3.9 Attempts per game). same with green (.311, 4.7At). turner (.432, 1.2At) and smart (.333, 3.3At) have been solid in limited opportunities, but are not naturals just yet. crowder (.211, 2.4At), nelson (.200, 4.2At), wallace (.250, .1At), and pressey (.212, 1.5At) can barely shoot at all. thornton has shot well but has been injured for a good chunk of the season (.423, 3.6At). the league average is .352, boston is shooting .324. sullinger (.337, 3.3At) and Olynyk (.358, 2.5At) have boosted the percentage a bit.
but that's a whole slew of  guards and wings who are average or below average at 3pt shots, and they're not exactly lighting it up with long 2's, either.  i'd imagine it  also makes it a lot easier for opposing teams to guard the paint. if the c's can get some better outside shooting, it should make life much easier for zeller, sully, and olynyk inside.

I have no idea why we jack up so many 3s. If it's to increase spacing, it's obviously not working. We're bottom 5 in 3pt percentage, yet we're in the top half of the league in 3 point attempts. That's on the coach.

Quick Fixes
1. Get Avery Bradley to shoot only corner 3s and cuts to the basket while focusing on defense (like he did during the 2011-2012 season when he took Ray Allen's starting spot)
2. Tell Jared Sullinger to live in the post, and only shoot 3s on wide open attempts in the flow of the offense. This will allow him to play to his strengths and REBOUND.
3. Get Jeff Green driving to the basket again. Run some plays for him, put him in a position to succeed.
4. Stop jacking up so many 3s period.

Some more problems:

We're absolutely awful at defending in crunch time, the second worst in the league, only ahead of the Knicks. That's inexcusable and is on both the players and the coaching staff. Put players who will defend in. Our offense is more or less the same as it is outside of crunch time, which is in the bottom third of the league. For a stats guy, Stevens isn't dealing with these clear problems.

Green and Bradley suck.

It's time to start Young and Smart.

Better solution: Play James Young.
