Should we have gone after Shumpert?

We have a trade exception to take on JR's contract. Why not? I think he's only owed 6 mil next year. Adding a really nice young player like Shumpert for that seems worth it to me.

I think Bradley would had been a nice piece for the cavs and we would had been able to shed that bad contract. I think the Knicks also got a first out of the deal. That would had been nice also.

If I was the cavs I would want Shump over Bradley regardless of contract, but when you factor in the contracts it isn't even close.

The reason NY gave Sumpert and Smith away ..was like the Josh Smith deal .....they.mostly paid somebody to take their problems . 

Players can be a burden on a team trying to reorganize.

I think the Rondo trade was a hurry up , to try and help Stevens gain control.

Knicks paid to get rid of their problems.  Shump injury prone and Smith a head case.

No.  Shumpert just isn't a very good player.  Career 39% shooter.  3 rebounds, 2 assists.  Doesn't get to the FT line.  Overrated as a defender.  Hasn't shown a lick of improvement in 4 years.

This maybe a little harsh, but I agree that he hasn't shown the improvement that he was 'supposed' to. Remember when the Knicks thought they could get Faried for him? I know he has limitations, but I would LOVE Faried on this Cs team...maybe Crowder can continue to win me over, though.

The Indians overran the fort last night .  Our General was no where to be found

  I could feel the tension in Tommy's comments , he was trying to maintain his composure and speak confident words as the team played unguided.

As a coach watching last night,  this surely must have torn his heart out .

I agree with the posters who said no, because he just isn't very good.  Same goes for the rest of the Knicks young guys, Hardaway included in my opinion.  That said, Shumpert should be a decent role player for the Cavs.

Shumpert is a role player, and Smith is a potential cancer.  Neither are building blocks for a rebuilding team.
