It sounds like they need to move him before his contract becomes fully guaranteed on January 10th, as they want some roster flexibility to bring in a vet for the playoff run. He's an interesting wing player who's stuck behind Pierce and Porter Jr. in DC, if he can be had for very little I would give him a look.

A shooting guard with worse shooting percentages than Phil Pressey?

He's more of a small forward, 6'6 with a good isolation game and a good shooter. He just hasn't had much opportunity on the Wizards and they are, for once, actually trying to contend. I'm not saying he's a future star or anything, but he can be a productive scorer who can create his own shot, something our current roster sorely lacks.

How would we fit him on the roster?

Well, the timing might not work out, but I expect Wright, Bass, Green, and Nelson to all be gone by the trading deadline.

Isolation games are inherently not good.  If that's his strength, the Celtics should stay away.

i have no preference one way or the other and honestly dont know rice jr or his game very well. so, why exactly should the celtics take him on? he doesnt seem to have much ability and i dont see what he brings to the team that is valuable.

I'm more interested in the Wiz bringing in a vet for their playoffs run, and that Rice's contract means they could have space for that cleared as soon as in three days.

It would be very nice if Danny could start unloading some more of his inventory soon, making room for better rotations and the resurfacing of James Young.

I agree with your interest, although I don't see the Wizards being a very good fit.  They're looking to move Rice so his salary gets completely removed from the books so they can add a vet at minimum salary.  They're very near the luxury tax line (which Ted Leonsis will not cross).  They're looking more at players who get released after the trade deadline, and are trying to clear up the salary space and roster space to sign one.

Green for Rice and Seraphim; I don't know if this would work in the trade machine;
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

They already have Pierce, Butler, and Porter, so why would they want Green?  Talk about a logjam, lol. ;D

Maybe so, but we also don't have anyone who can score one-on-one aside from Turner, and Rice Jr. has much better range, even though he just turned 24.  Meh, why not, lol? ;D Put him at the 2 and Young at the 3 and see what happens.  At least we'll have two great shooters on the floor at the same time.

It wouldn't work for three reasons:

1) The salaries don't match enough
2) This trade would put Washington over the hard cap.
3) Seraphim cannot be traded without his permission because he will lose his Bird rights.  He's not likely to agree to give up his Bird rights under any situation, and especially not so he can go to a losing team with a clogged frontcourt.
