Can we bring him back after the trade deadline? Do we still own his contract rights? Anyone know how well he's been progressing?

He looked terrible this summer, but looking at his per 40, pace-adjusted stats, it doesn't look like he's improved in Europe this year either: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Colton-Iverson-18752/stats/.

Oh, well. At least he was just a second-round big-man bust, as opposed to the JaJuan and Fab first-round busts.

Colton is my guy!

I watched him last year in Turkey. Yesterday was the first full game I watched of him in his new club in Spain - against EFES in the Euroleague. Barely played due to foul trouble and the other center - Mirza Begic having a day.

Onto your questions - he is on a 1-year contract in Spain and we still have his rights.

I am not sure if we can bring him back but I am sure it makes no sense. Do not let the highlights fool you - Colton is no shot blocker, very limited on offence and still fouls a lot on D.

His thing is rebounding, hard screens and big men D. Hustles a lot, but is still slow when covering pick and roll. Slow help defender. Think Cole Aldrich, Aron Baynes, etc..

I think right now we are getting all of this on Colton's level and more with Zeller.

Don't get me wrong - I like Colton a lot - all hustle, hard screens, a rock in the paint. Depending on his progress in Spain (P&R coverage and fouling) and roster situation after the draft, I'd love to see him get some situational minutes in green.

Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

I'll shriek if we bring on another big without getting rid of one first. Using per 36 min, or per 40 min, stats on a guy like Colton kills me. There's nothing of worth in those stats with a player like Colton in my opinion. Top-tier players? Sure, I can see an argument for it but guys who haven't played a minute of real NBA ball yet?
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

Oh wow,  I think we have enough bigs for now.  Is there room in the attic? ;D

Good point on too much bigs!

Regarding the per 36 and per 40 - I am sure it was discussed before, but I felt like repeating.

It is just a convenient way to compare stats. Nobody who uses it properly says - "If we give this guy 36 minutes this is what we expect to get". It is helpful when comparing say player A who plays 14 m per game to player B who plays 19 m per game. Comparing their per 36 stats will tell you more than comparing their "per game" stats.

We can use per 20 or per 31,5 with the same success.

I actually like "per 100 possessions" better. It controls for fast pace in cases that is important. For example, a case could be made Michael Carter Williams's stats per Minute looked better last year, because the 76 played so much faster than the league average.

Sorry for the rant-like looking thing of a text!

He'd be ok as a thug/enforcer type.  That is his skillset.

sad to hear, I let the recent highlights get best the of me. I was hoping he'd be a nice add to the rotation after the trade deadline (after the team hopefully gets stripped down to the bone). Thought his high work ethic would of had him develop some offense in the post by now but more it was more a pipe dream. Not a bad gamble of a second round pick by Danny  :-\

I think we had higher hopes last year. Now I am pretty convinced that he will never play in the NBA. It was an okay gamble by Danny and certainly a better pick than Fab in the first round, but if we are going to go out of our way to trade for a 2nd round pick, I would hope that we would pick a Fab-like prospect with greater potential to boom (or bust) than a guy who was always going to max out as a 2nd/3rd string center.
