Pre-game, it was said that Rondo asked to be traded after the game tonight. Ainge's response was "no." Why not, Danny? A week makes a difference?

I've always been an Ainge-hater on this forum, and I stick to it...more so than ever. It's a pathetic move, imo. And I couldn't be happier to see Rondo house us tonight.

To those of you that said Rondo needs help to succeed? Surrounded by great players? They didn't help him drop 29, 6, 5. He did that on his own.

Once Ainge stops disrespecting our players/gets fired, we will have a chance to be relevant again.

Regardless, I couldn't be happier for Rondo. He made us look like exactly what we are scrubs, 5+ years away from relevance. And he moved on to bigger and better things, as he deserved.

Yes, it did make a difference. They were trying to get the deal done before the deadline for players who were involved in deals to still be able to be dealt this season. In other words, Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson, and Jae Crowder can still be dealt this season before the deadline.

Are you referring to the deadline in nearly 1.5 months? I hope not...

tarheelsxxiii... your first post doesn't make any sense at all.  If Rondo didnt' need great players around him to put up those kind of numbers, he would have put up those numbers in Boston while surrounded by mediocrity.   That's the most points Rondo has scored in 2 years.  Lol.  You don't think it had anything to do with the Celtics collectively deciding to leave Rondo wide open and cover guys like Dirk?  It doesn't seem peculiar at all to you that Rondo's been a 25% three point shooter for 9 years and suddenly jumps to 40% shooting on the Mavs?  Rondo is far more effective as the 4th/5th best player on a team.  He can't be the top dog on a contender.

Also... what obnoxiousmime said is correct.  There's a pre-deadline deadline.  The official trade deadline is on Feb 19th.  Players acquired in a trade can't be traded for 60 days.  By trading Rondo on December 18th, it means that all the pieces we acquired (Crowder, Wright, Jameer) can be re-traded on the deadline.

Funny that the 4th or 5th best player on the team was by far the best player on the court last night. Rondo is probably the second best player on the Mavs. Your constant and inaccurate portrayal of Rondo provides a lot of humor, however.

Slight clarification here:  each of the individual players we acquired can be traded immediately, and at any point prior to the trade deadline.

However, if we want to trade those players in combination with other players there is a 2 month restriction.  (There's even some nuance to that, where multi-player deals are allowed so long as salaries aren't aggregated, but you get the gist).

I couldn't be happier to see Rondo house us tonight.

I cannot sufficiently verbalize how frustrated I am when I see junk like this.

Junk?

I'd call it "a frustrated fan that hated to see Rondo gone, for as little as we got back, or gone, period".

Not junk.

So if it was Anti-Rondo then you'd approve?

I don't want to see Danny fired, but rebuilding sucks.

Me neither. I don't want to see him gone, either.

But I just did not see a need to return to the Lean Years and we could possibly be doing just that.

To be honest - I was cheering for Rondo and Dirk and Co last night.

And I've bled Green since 1981 and will continue to bleed Green.

Danny just pulled the plug too soon...should've waited :'(

Er, yeah, that deadline. And that sport.

Sadly I agree as well.  I think it had more to do with how bad our team is playing.  If sully or KO or anyone was playing well at least I'd give it a closer watch.  Green looked good last night and Zeller.

No.

I'm wondering how you rationalized that conclusion. Stop generalizing those who don't drool over Rondo.
