funny how some he have omitted the most important part of a players playing..THE COACH......why do you think Bradley gets the green light to shoot 6 for 20.......a LOT....because the coach sets those plays for the guy he wants to turn into a 2-guard.....and zeller, who he never runs a shooting play, even though zeller can shoot very well...and makes a high % of his free throws.....it is what the coach tells you to do / be......THINK people....this isn't your game of pickup....!

Like Rondo said, he didn't play defense because Stevens did not expect it.

I feel like this is the victim-blaming fallacy. You can't blame Stevens for Rondo not playing D. That was obviously a concerted effort by Rondo not to play D.

Though Stevens does need to man up. I want to see him get angry once in awhile.

So since I missed the first half... some explain to me how Rondo went 7-9 shooting with 4/4 from threes?  Did we just leave him wide open?

Nope, Rondo's working.

Wait until Dirk gets going, lol.

Dirk torched us even during the Big Three days...I hope I'm wrong this time, though.
Law of averages is going to catch up to Rondo here.  No way does he continue shooting 38% from three for the Mavs.  That would be THE biggest shocker of the season.

It would make the Jason Kidd comparisons fairly eerie, though, wouldn't it?
You might want to look at Kidd's numbers again:  http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/kiddja01.html

He was a fairly consistent 35% shooter from three for 14 years... he had a slight uptick in year 15 when he shot 40% and then 42%... then back to 34% the year after.

But Rondo spending 9 years shooting 25% to jump up to 38% as soon as he's traded?  Don't count on it.  Law of averages is going to catch up to him here.
I give Rondo credit here, though.  Teams are leaving him WIIIIDE open because they know he's worthless without the ball.  So far, he's meeting the challenge and shooting obscenely high percentages (for him).

Still don't expect it to last.  I anticipated a honeymoon period.  We're in the thick of it.

  • You say when......
Danny please upgrade Bradley.
he has gotten really bad. He was playable before but now I wouldn't even want him as a bench player.

Well in 6 years, Young will be ready. :'(

hardly anyone ever comes out of the dreaded D league......poor guy......if young was on San Antonio.....well, he would be playing, all through oct-january at least...!!!

Ya....triple doubles are empty....why that is why everyone else on the team got them......what...no one else did.....well.....no really.....come on buddy....the only thing that is empty here is your point. Let it go. you can dislike rondo, but you cannot undo facts.

That's where you have it wrong. lol

I loved Rondo, and I really wanted us to build around him.

But it has always been apparent that he didn't always give consistent effort, and the way he is playing right now just proves it. I wanted Rondo to play the way he is now for the Mavs for us, but he just couldn't be that guy that could bring it every night.

So don't get me wrong. I love Rondo as a player and still wanted him to be a C, but I'm severely ticked off that he decides to play again once he's on a different team.

He's an elite NBA player, not really too difficult to figure out how he is having a great game.

It really shouldn't need an explanation. ::)
When it comes to shooting 3s, RR is as elite as Shaq shooting FTs.

And we all know what JKidd helped bring to DAL in 10-11, right? :)

And JKidd was a smart and intelligent player...great defender...great passer......future HOFer.

I'd like to see Smart get some more handling duty in the second half, I like that he's looking for his shot more this game. As for the negatives, I don't see why Nelson continues to get so many minutes, he has done nothing well..

And he wasn't elite for Boston in the last two seasons, so that's not really an obvious explanation.

it is not any victim or blaming thing......stevens has it difficult because he has a team of "sometimes" players......KO..played great and hard....when his father was there....green the same.....and all along.....you, me and many others will never agree on rondo......I do not wish to argue with you.....I respect your side / opinion....I do not want to go at each other.....there is no future in it. I happen to like rondo's game, and would love a pg like him on my team anytime......uhm....level adjusted that is......I am not nba level.....

The biggest travesty in all of this if you ask me is they didn't play Lee Ann Womack's 'I Hope You Dance' in the video tribute.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Rajon is really sticking it into Danny isnt he?

Would've been nice if he could've done this for us.... Naw, slacking on D and only deciding to play once every couple of games was good enough for him.
He did play this way for us. A lot. Ask D Wade and D Rose and Lebron and Kobe

Well, I can't excuse the lack of extra effort when we are a losing team, but when it mattered, he did play like this if not close.

Yeah, I feel like he hasnt been National TV Rondo with us this season, but I certainly disagree that he was slacking off. You cant average double digit assists by slacking off, could have been better if he stepped on that extra gear, but I believe that being dangled in the trade rumors kind of got him disinterested.

I agree, I said that on another post.....LOL..some got ruffled over it....LOL...even at half speed, if it was...he played better and harder, and more effective than most...

Haha good one. I'm seriously wanting to know what Rondo you guys were watching that you think he played harder than most.

The guy who led the league in assists at the time he was here and led all guards in rebounds.

Oh, you must mean the guy who consistently let his guy drive past him, didn't fight through screens, and didn't give a crap about D in Boston. That guy?  ;)

He wasn't playing like this when he was here. Not since 2012 playoffs anyways.

Yeah, that guy. Im not excusing him for that. But for you to just overlook the rest of his game is what's funny here.

Maybe if we have built a much decent team for Rondo and/or Ainge didnt keep putting him on the trade block (FOR YEARS), he would have probably have a different mindset.
