Brandon Bass& a second rounder for Doug Mcdermott trade idea

Why boston makes the trade- Bass isn't in the long term plans in Boston. The little playing time he gets takes valuable time our younger bugs could use to develop.  Getting something for Bass would be great.  Furthermore, Doug McDermott is a great shooter, and Boston doesn't have many of those. Getting a first round talent for a second round pick and player that won't be on the team next year makes too much sense. Plus, it helps round out the roster

Why Chicago makes the trade- Not only are they not impressed with Doug, but they're in win now mode. Hitting the midrange jumper and playing quality defense are both skills of Bass and the framework for playing for Chicago s coach. Bigs probably mean more in Chicago than any other place. Bass comes in as a high quality bench player to ensure the play at that position doesn't fall off. He contributes to the immediate championship window.

In all seriousness, it's just not enough for a lottery pick rookie.
We're having trouble getting a 2nd rounder for Bass alone. There is literally zero chance they throw in McDermott. You'd have to give up something like Bass, Clippers pick and James Young before they begin the conversation.

Your first post is very much a headscratcher. You say that Chicago doesn't want McDermott even though you also say that he is a great shooter. Bass could probably be had for a 2nd round pick and expiring contracts.

I don't see the point in keeping Green past this season given the type of money he is going to command and how far away from challenging for a title the Celtics are. Getting a solid mid-first round pick in McDermott would be a good get for Green at this point in time.

Yeah, count me in as also satisfied with that trade. We get a cost-controlled sharp shooter with the potential to be much more and Chi gets a semi-star veteran who can slide anywhere into their line-up. He would actually be quite dynamic with the Bulls.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know much about the value of NBA draft picks. I know and am much more experienced with NFL picks so this helps. Ive seen others reply proposing a Jeff green for McDermott and dunleavey trade. Im all in favor. For future reference, how many second rounders would have to be packaged for a late first or is that possible? And could someone explain to me the value of nva picks compared to NFL picks?

That'd have to be 2 separate transactions, can't combine the TE with players. I don't think Chicago would be interested in Jeff with him and Jimmy both slated to be free agents. And they'd be giving up a lot of shooting there.

Good point about the shooting. Didn't know that about the TE's.

I really like Brooks and I doubt the Bulls deal him but they get another SF in Green and back-up center for Noah. Plus they have Hinrich to back up Rose.

Maybe throw them a draft pick and a doggie biscuit (lol.)
