Young looks like a Michael Redd Clone to me....he's a cold blooded, knock down shooter...but he also seems injury-prone like Redd....Still a baby though---Gotta keep him and let him play.

Maybe a little more hops than Redd, but I agree with the comparison.

Sorry I have not been around to post. My moms been sick and finances are a mess. To save money I have been going to the library to get on the internet and it has been hard to post. Plus I moved in with my mother to help sell the house and we have no cable. The first game I missed in a few seasons was the game Rondo officially was traded...

Anyways seeing this thread about James Young made me login and make a comment.

IMO James is a quick learn. He is younger than most freshman taken in drafts. He is better than people think at taking it to the rim and finishing. And in 3 years he may end up being talked about as  one of the best players from this draft.

theres more I want to say but I have to get going....the light is running out and I am suppose to paint the hallway upstairs.

keep up the posts everyone. Even though I can't write back sometimes I love reading all the opinions....I always find someone that shares mine.

Young has one of the sweetest shots I have seen.

I think he is going to replace Green.

Fwiw, that's who nbadraft.net compared him to.  I can't remember if they also said that he was the best scorer in his class, as well, but man - does he ever hit the rim, lol? ;D He should have gotten injured up here.  At least it would have happened during real minutes, lol. ;D Ugh.  Let him play!

I don' t think that's fair. His only skill right now is his shooting. His defense is still awful and he doesn't play the team game very well. He just doesn't have the experience. There's a lot of risk bringing in someone who isn't ready - his teammates may have problems with it if he can't hack it on the court, the fans would be all over him if he's screwing up and/or he'd just be riding the bench. He's better off getting substantial playing time with the Red Claws and gaining confidence. If you really want to "let him play" then that's the place for him right now.

I imagine we'll see him post-trade deadline in a 10-15 min/night role.

Not when he gives up 2 baskets because he can't play defense. There's two sides to the court and he can't find his butt with two hands and a search warrant at the defensive end.

Hey, I didn't say that it was a fair comparison, lol ;D, but the only way you grow as a player is by getting experience.  I say let him play.  A lot, lol. ;D I love dat step-back move, tho, haha. ;) ;D

cute and accurate description of young's defense. as you mentioned, the dleague was made for folks such as young. he needs to develop his game, broaden his skills, and not worry in the least about wins or loses. no pressure for him at this stage is a good thing. he is free to screw up all he wants in the dleague and no one will give him heat for it.

there is plenty of time for him to come up to boston later.

Good point.
Faverani blew out his knee in the D league. Maybe it would be better if the young ones practiced with the real team.
