He was outplaying Young, moved his feet on d, great stance and very good lateral. He could put on muscle ,had the vertical of wright but not the length, ran the court could pass and get to the hoop off dribble.Young has that attitude of a superstar shooter and fearless as you all saw on dunk against Uconn but powell seemed to have that determination. That special kind ,that  stays  with you when things don't go as fast or the way you want. Watched his games in maine,he was dominant and scored in every manner seemed very efficient including garbage time for celts.

It was D-League but he was lighting it up.  I do think he has some potential.

Ive said it before but I really like Powell and think he will eventually make it as a 9th-10th man in a good teams rotation. I see him as a Jared Jeffries type role player.

in other words, replacing his contributions will not be all that difficult.

I know he was just a second rounder who could go off in the D League but I'm probably one of the few who didn't like him being included with Rondo. Oh Well
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

He might have been outplaying Young so far but Young is also four years younger. He doesn't have the same upside as a younger player.

He wouldn't have turned into anything here playing behind younger and more talented players in Olynyk and Sullinger.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Powell joins the long list of barely-having-enough-talent-to-be-in-the-NBA type players that Celticsbloggers have tremendously over rated and made into something they are not. Dwight Powell join the ranks of:

Phil Pressey
Chris Babb
Shavlik Randolph
Terrence Williams
Kris Joseph
Sean Williams
DJ White
Jajuan Johnson
Luke Harangody
JR Giddens
Bill Walker
etc
etc
etc

true, true. and yet i adored each of them and was convinced they would be good nba players. well, except for walker and babb.

Brandon Hunter is the first of "those" guys that I remember. We didn't protect him, disaster!?  ;)

If I'm paying any attention to the D-League, this is what catches my attention.

Chris Babb
16 pts, 6 rebs, 43% from the field, 40% from 3 in 36 minutes a game.

James Young
22 pts, 6.6 rebs, near 48% from the field, near 46% from 3 in 32 minutes a game.

Young, who just turned 19 this year, is already outperforming a known marginal NBA player in Babb, who will turn 25 in a few months.

Moreover. Now we have in roster number of wanna-be players or good role players. Lack of proved starters and no stars. Don't forgot about bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks. In next few years we'll be in situation:  sell 2 average players - buy 1 good player.

Really bad situation for keeping extra promising (yes, I like him too :) ) player.
