Any Rondo-apologists out there who think Woj is making this stuff up?  Just curious.  Sounds like we're shopping Rondo hard again.  Wonder if we'll find a taker this time around.  Basically running out of time... we need to move him in the next two months or risk losing him for nothing.

If the Mavs are going for Rondo hard like Woj says, what can they really offer?   WHo is on the table?

Anyone wonder if Ainge's willingness to trade Rondo has to do with how available Lance Stephenson is?  Like, if you could move Jeff Green for Stephenson and then move Rondo + picks for Parsons, would you do it?

Doubt it would be something as substantial as Parsons though.  Wright's expiring and filler assets makes more sense.

Smart and Lance would be a very very very interesting backcourt lol

Yes, it would be. I really like the idea of those together. So much physical toughness. Two ball-handlers to share playmaking duties on offense. Two guard offense.

I think they'd be a very good match for one another.

Story going online details Celtics/Mavs talks in which Boston would get at least one first and blossoming center Brandan Wright for Rondo

Lol.  People are going to be soo... soooo mad.

Let them. You don't get full value for an expiring contract.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

I don't know about Blossoming, but Wright has the length, shot blocking we can use.

I don't think Dallas is going to give up 2 1sts.

Wright, 1st  and 2 2nds

I'm happy to see that there would be 'at least' one first round pick (can't imagine Danny will just take one if we aren't getting back an exciting young player)...and, dude, 'blossoming'? - that is quite a way to describe Brandan Wright.

I would hope that there would be a three way deal where we would end up with better players from another team (Lawson and Faried). I don't know, I just don't want to be overly disappointed.

No chance the Mavs offer Parsons. Their best offer will be two 1sts and salary filler, take it or leave it.

Also, I don't think Danny wants any part of Lance.
Per Woj:  " Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA  ?  1h 1 hour ago

Boston's discussing Rondo trades on multiple fronts, but Mavericks are showing an increasing interest in deal for Rondo, sources tell Yahoo."

Probably being leaked by Boston to get Vivek and the nutty folks running the Kings to send us a stupid offer.

People keep talking about Sac. I don't think Rondo resigns there. If you could choose between Vivek and Cuban, who are you hedging your bets on?

You bet on Cousins (24 year old) over Dirk (36 year old).

A team with a bright future (SAC) vs a team set for a rebuilding process in near future (DAL).

yup. Rumor has it Danny would be happy just to get a 1st for Green. And Green is playing much better than a 1st.  It's crazy how much value even a 1st round pick has these days

Let them. You don't get full value for an expiring contract.

I mean... I've been part of debates about this for years... that if you waited too long you'll be lucky to get a late 1st for a Rondo rental.

Well we waited too long.  And now here we are... either taking a late 1st for Rondo or watching him walk.  Still stings like heck now that we approaching actually seeing it happen.

Stein says we're also talking to the Knicks and Kings, but Mavs most serious so far.

If you are Danny, would you want the 2016 or 2018 1st? which has more value for the Celts?  More value in the market?

Mavs are willing to do this trade right now while the Knicks and Kings are probably like, i will get back to you.

I wonder if Danny's phone is off the hook right now, 10 calls in waiting from the MAvs org. And he is desperately wanting another team to call with a better offer

Brandan Wright is a backup center. Not capable of being the starting center Boston needs.
Celtics already have a backup center = Tyler Zeller.

Why trade Rondo for a backup center and two late 1sts?
It is a terrible return.
I would be very surprised if the deal actually happens.

Nah, I think you stay big. Play a power lineup. Lots of size and length. Get rid of Bradley.

Someone with size and athleticism at SF like J.Green. I think that would be a really strong base on perimeter to build team around. Add a strong shot-blocker and instantly have base to a top defensive team.

Having Smart and Lance gives you such an advantage in terms of size, physical toughness, defense and rebounding. Go all-in with those qualities. Build a team in that image. No more small ball perimeter trios. Fill the court with length.
