I know they're not going so great with Cousins out, just makes me wonder if they have a coach lined up they feel will be stronger so soon? Malone is a decent coach and I believe he had a good relationship with Cousins.

Edit:

Per Woj:

"Sacramento has no replacement lined up for Malone, and Corbin will be afforded chance to coach Kings this season, league sources tell Yahoo."

Wow. They had high expectations, even with Cousins out some time? It just strikes me as an impulsive move. I wonder if they'd be susceptible to an awful trade or two....

Lol... wow.  That's rough.   They were 9-6 with Cousins.  Cousins get's injured and they go 2-7... coach gets fired.  Did he give Cousins viral meningitis?

I sort of get a weird vibe from Vivek Ranadive.  Did anyone see the behind the scenes video of the draft war room?   They don't seem like an organization that really knows what they are doing.  It's a shame we couldnt' sucker them into trading a stud like Ben Mclemore for a 1 year Rondo rental.

It gets worse (if you are a Kings fan):

Quote
Another possible long-term candidate for the Kings: ex-Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro. Del Negro led the Bulls and Clippers to the playoffs, and has experience in coaching young stars Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin that could be beneficial in continuing the development of Cousins.

Also noted in that article was that Malone was against the Kings trying to acquire Josh Smith.  Maybe with Malone gone, that trade idea will get revisited.

Ridiculous.  That team was overachieving before DMC got sick.  Cousins and McLemore have developed nicely, and Rudy Gay looked like he finally fit on a team.

.

I agree that Vivek gives off a weird vibe.  He coached his 12 year old daughter's team and he seems to think he's an expert.  In that war room video, he seemed to be leading things with guys kissing his butt and agreeing with him while he probably should have let his basketball guys run the show.

Maybe Vivek fired Malone because he would not run the 4 on 5 defense that he pitched.  ;D

That's just not smart.

Or fair, really.

They apparently want to play "uptempo offensive and positionless basketball".

Which makes total sense when you have a great low post center  ::).

From everything I've read, I don't think Vivek was the one doing the firing.

Also this highlights why hiriing the GM after your coach isn't a great idea.

What I've read is that the GM didn't support Malone, and its ownerships loss of faith in him that led to giving the GM the freedom to fire him.

Vivek apparenlty paid a lot of attention to the Erik Spolestra interviews during the LBJ Heat years....

Ha.  Yeah.  It helps to have a superstar who can credibly plan 4 positions when you're going "positionless".

Boogie is a great athlete, but I don't want to see him out there at shooting guard.  :P
