As fans it's easy to get carried away when we've lost this many games because even when the goal was tanking like we did last season, it wasn't fun losing all those games.  But looking at this team, with the personnel that we have, I'm not sure if where we are isn't where we're supposed to be.  With the talents that we have, we've managed to have huge leads against good teams and only one superstar away from winning those games.  It's an indication of how better this team has gotten with only role players and mediocre talents.  So what do you think?

I think we've really underachieved. We've shown flashes of real promise, especially on the offensive end. We've also shown a tendency to lose focus with a big lead and we don't seem to step up in the clutch, as we've lost big leads and we never seem to win close games. These are issues that can be resolved, and I won't be surprised to see a big improvement going forward.

Don't be down on this team. We're rebuilding, and we won't be competing for a championship anytime soon, but we're a watchable team on the rise.

Given that some prognosticators here projected our first 15 games with just a couple of wins, I'd say 7-14 is probably just about as expected.  We lose because we don't have enough experience as a team, not enough talent, not good player balance overall, no real go-to scorer, and no big defensive presence.  7-14 sounds right.

I thought Smart and Young would be much bigger factors this year.

Too bad they got hurt.

I think we suck. Here's my question, if we kept Paul and KG these past two seasons, would we have the same record? I don't think trading Paul and KG has helped us at all. We drafted Smart who cant stay healthy and Young doesn't even play. If are intent was to develop talent and trade picks for an impact player, when are we? 7 years since are last title and counting, we're obviously aren't winning it this year so now it's 8 years and counting. No rumors, no trades, no nothing. Where do we go from here?

Re-thinking this a bit.  I guess I had the notion going into the season that the C's would separate themselves a little from the league's worst teams.  To this point, though, they really haven't.   I was hoping to be rooting for wins all year, but I think I am another 15-20 games (at this W-L pace) from starting to think more about draft position.

One big shift in the way I've been thinking lately is that I am now opening up to the idea of trading for picks and more young talent -- putting us into the top 5 in this year's draft (won't take much) and maybe picking up another 1st rounder.

I agree with this.  And within this context they're about where they should be.  The question I have is how many guys off the current roster will still be here when this turns around?  So far I've got Smart with Young being an incomplete.  And no one else.

Even if they weren't hurt, they play positions that aren't really our problems right now.  Getting a good PG like Smart is nice, but we already have Rondo.  Young right now is buried behind several semi-talented guards/forward.

I'm happy with who we took.  Taking the best player available makes sense when you are collecting mismatched assets.  But, I am not getting attached to those guys.  Until something happens with Rondo, both Smart and Young are mainly trade chips.

Btw, I think we've overachieved.  This team isn't talented.

If we were gonna be surprised one way or the other, that would of been last season.  This year is going as good as I expected it to, so neither underachieve or overachieve.

Realistically it's probably a good idea not to get attached to anyone because anyone on this roster is a trade chip given where this team is now.  But I do think you can build around Smart.  This team has played its best when he's on the floor and healthy.  Unfortunately he hasn't been very healthy.

we're where we're supposed to be.

judgements cant really made until we see what we have once Danny decides to start shoving his chips in the middle of the table.

Expectations met. The team has been fun to watch, so in that sense, I consider them to have overachieved.

I've got a hunch that one of Sully/Olynyk will be part of our bigman rotation for the foreseeable future.

Yup.  I think most folks had us in the 25-30 win range for the year.  That's the pace we are on now.
