My biggest surprises:

Charlotte is horrible, I thought they are a playoff team.
Sacramento is way better than I expected.
Knicks/Nets way worse than I thought.
Clippers looks weaker than I expected.
Cavs are not as good as I expected.

I forgot about the Bucks. They are a pleasant surprise.

I agree with your adjective.  They are a pleasure.  Right now, I'd have to put them as my second favorite team in the league behind the Celtics.

The Bucks and Magic

Those are two nice teams.  I love Oladipo and wish he were a Celtic.
The Bucks are looking great.

Orlando is gonna need Aaron Gordon to blossom.  They need a quality starting PF, someone
better than Frye to help them really excel.  And they need Payton to become an above average
PG, assuming Oladipo is the two of the future.

I agree, was saying this in the chat room on friday. As another question from this - Do you think Jason Kidd is actually a pretty decent coach, when he's not #1 in the spotlight and #2 coaching a team that he pretty much played against for 10+ years lol.

(I hope Paul Pierce said "Hey coach, can you teach us how to keep a 24 point lead in the fourth quarter?  :P)
Every year there are 6-7 teams with a lower winning percentage than our current record. I think we've gotten so used to ignoring the bottom feeders since 2008 that we've forgotten how bad some teams are.

The nice thing about Toronto is they play as a team while still getting great individual contributions (Lowry and DeRozan).  They are a dangerous team.

I'm not surprised by Atlanta.  They've been good when healthy and bad when not for two or three years.

Detroit much worse than I expected.  Biggest surprise for me is Charlotte.  Thought they were an Eastern threat lol.  Maybe Kidd Ghilchrist's return can spark them.  In the East they could still make they playoffs.  Washington not a surprise.  I'm not surprised by Miami's record.  I thought Cleveland would have a better record.  The Nets can still be a dangerous playoff team.  They are coasting.  The recent thing about making guys available for trade, while genuine, is unlikely and also serves to light a fire so they don't over-coast.  But they could be a good playoff team if Lopez stays healthy.  Not a threat to make the finals though sadly.  I'd love to see KG in L.A. or Ok. City, or Memphis for that matter.

I don't think Charlotte is that surprising.  I expected Charlotte to be worse than last year.  The only reason that the Bucks surprise me at all is their head coach.

I didn't think the Pacers were going to be quite this bad, I thought the Kings would look more hopeless than they do now, and I thought the Wizards would be behind Miami and Atlanta.

Better than expected:
Atlanta
Utah
Sacramento
Orlando
I don't think Milwaukee is better than expected.  They're about what I'd figured they'd be.  they should not have been the worst team in the league last year.

Worse:
Charlotte
Detroit
New York
these 3 have been a major disappointment this year.  each should be at worst 5-6 wins better than they are now

why would Toronto surprise anyone?  They won the Atlantic last year and of their top 11 from last year only 8th man John Salmons was not brought back and I think they upgraded his slot with Louis Williams (they also added James Johnson to the rotation as well Stiemsma, Nogueira, and Caboclo to the deep bench).  The surprise would have been Toronto not playing like the clear favorites in the Atlantic.

Milwaukee at 13-12 is the only real surprise for me.  I thought they would be better, but not above .500 better 25 games into the season.  Real shame Parker is out of the year for them.

On the negative, I didn't expect Detroit to be as bad as they are.  They have a lot of talent on that team, but it really is totally mis-matched.  SVG has a lot of work to do with that roster, culture, and team.  Similarly, I expected Charlotte and the Knicks to be better than they are as well, especially Charlotte.  I thought they were moving in the right direction, but they have taken a serious step back.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

So for Charlotte, is it the Lance Stephenson effect? He is better talent wise than what they had last year but it could be chemistry wise he's a disaster.
