Except for Rondo, don't trade him  :P only if we get a good return

The C's are currently in 9th place in the lottery, but only 2 and a half games out of the # 4 spot currently held by Minny .

10- Orl
9- Boston
8 - Indy
7- Char
6-  Utah
5- LAL
4- Minny
3- NYK
2- Det
1- Philly

I think if we don't make any moves we probably finish around #7or 8 in the lottery

Don't think we are catching the top 3, but we could get into the top 5 if we sold on Green and Bass while their value is relatively high.  Especially with Green likely getting a pay praise next off-season.

Something like

Bos sends: Green , Bass, Vitor , clips pick
Chi sends: Taj Gibson, McDermott, Dunleavy(exp)

We get Taj Gibson locked up for 4 years at 8 mil per, get a rookie with potential in McDermott . We also likely fall deeper in the lottery , possibly top 5.

Chicago get a pretty big upgrade at sf and Bass who is a good piece coming off the bench playing next to either Pau or Noah. Also a draft pick

This team is getting to the point where they need to make a move.

Trade Rondo, keep the picks.....

2015 - two first round picks, ours and the Clippers
2016 - three first round picks, ours and the Nets and the Cavs
2017 - one first round pick, the better of ours or the Nets
2018 - two first round picks, ours and the Nets

welcome to purgatory my friends.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I predicted 27 wins before the season, but this team has exceeded my expectations so far.  Patience is key at this point in the rebuild.  Gutting our team of whatever talent we have to increase our chances of a top pick by a couple of percentage points is beyond stupid.  I trust that DA is smart enough not to tail behind discontented celtics fans.

Whatever happens , Jeff Green has convinced me , we need to sign him to an extension

4 year at 13-14 million per season.

That's dandy. Except by now he has convinced about half a dozen GMs that he's worth $15-20 million.

Jeff Green hopefully gives us a hometown discount .

If not then i would trade him.

I had to listen and read about for three years people lamenting Green's contract all to get to the point that people are sad that it's ending? Oh well, I would've just wasted the time on some other crap.

Irresponsible to trade Rondo just to trade him if by doing so you pick up a contract that extends past this offseason. We'd need at least a lotto pick or a good young player in return to make it worthwhile.

Same goes for Green, though I'd say any first would make it worthwhile in his case.

As for Bass, I'd just let him expire unless some miracle offer like Thornton-Zeller-1st for a second rounder falls in Danny's lap.

Me thinks this trade makes tons of sense:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kubsz2d

BOS trades: Rajon Rondo
BOS receives: The JET, Kostas Papanikolaou, NOP 1st rounder

HOU trades: The JET, Kostas Papanikolaou, NOP 1st rounder

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

If it's expiring talent it's stupid to not get something in return if we can.
If we aren't going to make the playoffs, then we should be aiming for the best draft position possible by shedding our expiring contracts.

It's what Ainge did last year when he traded Crawford and Lee, and tried to trade Green and Bass- their contracts were just too hard to move at $9 and $6 million a pop.

You can bet your house that he'll do the same thing this season with Thornton, Bass, Turner and probably Green- there's just no point in keeping together a team for a no man's land run of 9th or 10th in the East when all those guys are expiring or were signed to become trade assets in the first place.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd love to see Danny make a trade that helps McHale.

But Houston needs offense, so how about expanding the trade to include one of Bass, Green or Thornton and also getting back one of the young Rockets PGs? (With filler as required.)

My rankings for players who should be traded, given team/individual performance and contracts:

1) Bass
2) Rondo
3) Wallace
4) Green
5) Turner
6) Olynyk

Our most valuable assets, given same measures above:

1) Smart
2) Green
3) Sullinger
4) Bradley
5) Rondo
6) Young

Unfortunately, few of the people we should trade have much value.

You would trade Rondo not to lose more but to better our situation one way or the other. Meaning a good draft pick, young talent, or ridding yourself of Wallace.

As for Green I'll be shocked if we can upgrade from him, not that he's awesome but he is a good player.

As for tanking for a better draft pick have we not learned that doesn't work yet? I mean this is like watching congress try to deregulate wall street again like the crash didn't happen 6 years ago? ::)
