In a nutshell:

Rajon Rondo produced his third triple-double of the season by posting 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists over 32 minutes. It's the 32nd triple-double of Rondo's career. But this was hardly Rondo's night and he was a team-worst minus-21 in plus/minus for the game.

I would not give him his current contract. He is not worth the 13 million he makes now.

You also probably are going to get him suspended a couple of games based on this elbow he hit Stevenson with tonight: https://vine.co/v/O6z2pErBdM9

I hope so. Let Smart play then deal Rondo to Houston for whatever they will give us.

Rondo is ok until the fourth quarter.
Then he just falls apart.

Unfortunately, you are correct.  That was not a smart play by Rondo.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
This was obviously a garbage triple double (if there is such thing as one), but to be fair, there are about five games where Rondo just missed a triple double and two of in two of those he didn't get there because of points.

I love Rondo and want to keep him as an integral part of our future, we just need to surround him with the right players.

Yeah it kind of loses its impact when you lose.....

So here is my request for the non-stop Rondo haters. One of the main complaints I hear is that he doesn't perform in the clutch, etc. etc. But, where would the Celts be when the fourth period comes around if he wasn't playing so great in the first three quarters -- which he has been for quite some time? You can't have it both ways. Do any of you understand why Tyler Zeller has such a high shooting percentage this year and why he has had some big games for the C's? It's because Rondo delivers the ball perfectly to him almost every time. That's just one example.

One other small fact: Rondo is the only player right now on this team who is a legitimate NBA starter.

Though I disagree with your last point, good post.

Agree with your last sentence.  Re the rest, the majority of NBA games are decided in the 4th quarter. Great players perform then.  He hasn't.

That's more of a team thing than Rondo alone.

+1. We have witnessed that 15-20 pts lead mean nothing  going into the 4th. And yes it has alot to do with Rondo.  He just passes the ball to the guy next to him and stands there. Why not drive and kick it out or try to score, get to the line?  Just stands there.

Shorten the game to 36 minutes and Rondo is league MVP.
