Yes nets, sell sell, sell!!!!

This could be huge for Boston's future. if we get two lottery picks we have all the ammo we need to build a championship roster.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/235815/Nets-Make-Deron-Williams-Brook-Lopez-Joe-Johnson-Available

They aren't getting a lot back for williams and Johnson imo, Maybe Lopez, though he is a free agent next year.

I'm conflicted. Do we want them to keep all three and be terrible or sell and be terrible?

Great words from a great man

I can't see them getting enough in return for any of those guys to hurt the draft picks they owe us. Lopez maybe if he wasn't so injury prone and soon to be a fa but he is. The only scenario I can see that hurts those picks is if they clear enough salary and manage to sign a couple of good free agents.

Keep them.  We don't want them to change anything.  They're not good now and they don't have very good prospects for improving.  Maybe KG wants to play another year for em, lol.

On a sidenote, Mason Plumlee is in the doghouse and can't get off the bench.  His numbers stink, but he's a guy I would take a flier on.  Big tough guy, could definitely dive hard on a pick n roll like Zeller.  Nice Team USA / Duke pedigree.  He's a little more raw than even Zeller.  I don't get to watch them much because, well... Brooklyn is boring as s#$ to watch.  Anybody have any insight on how Plumlee rates as a defender?  I would say average in my limited views.

Two lottery picks won't guarantee much.  Two #1 overall, in the right year, might.  Will we get that?  Probably not.

which is exactly why you don't do anything to facilitate a deal with them.  They have to overhaul completely to get better and that's what we don't want.

Agree, although wouldn't it be special if we really bent them over in a deal that returned them their picks? Here's Gerald Wallace and your picks back, and we'll keep all of good stuff from a 3rd team...

I admit, it would be kind of funny to trade them Something like Gerald Wallace and Thornton for Deron Williams and $6M in cash.  Just for the eff you factor.

Don't think you can trade back players to team they come from in same year.

It depends on who's avaliable and if the Nets really stink the next year.

That's the Gary Payton rule, right?

Think the Payton thing is a 30 day rule.

This from NBA FAQs:

Quote
A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30)

Thinking about what Brooklyn would be willing to do to jumpstart a legit rebuild:

JJ and Lopez

for

Wallace, Thornton, Bass, AB and their 2016 and 2018 (we keep the 2017 swap)

The numbers are fairly close -- we'd have to come up with a little more salary I think (not much).

Our roster:

Rondo, Smart/Pressey
JJ, Smart, Turner
Jeff, Turner, JJ
Sully, KO
Lopez, Zeller, KO

Could swap Lopez for KG in the above making the salaries close to perfect.  Less of a salary gain for Nets for 2015-16 but gets them their lotto picks back and free from JJ's salary one season early.  Probably could unload Lopez elsewhere.   Gives us a year or 2 with KG playing 20 MPG and mentoring our young bigs.

Not sure I love either scenario, but somewhat interesting to think about.

Also could look at getting Garnett and Lopez and keep AB (or Bass):

Rondo, Smart/Pressey
(AB), Smart, Turner
Jeff, Turner, (Bass)
Sully, KO, KG, (Bass)
Lopez, KG, Zeller

I'm terrible at this trade thing.  Not sure why I let myself go there.

I'm hoping they dump and stink.  I DO NOT want deron williams anywhere near our team.  Lopez very good offensive center who is injury prone and JJ good but overpaid.  If JJ can play sg for us then I'm up for looking hard at him.  I am not going to bother looking at contracts but knowing JJ is paid a ton, wallace to make salaries work, a draft pick and AB.  They get a big expiring, young sg and future prospect.  We get an offensive go to guy, add good size to backcourt.
does that make sense?

I don't want JJ and Garnett has nothing left.  Devon Williams is intriguing, but not for $20M.
