Lowe on Rondo-
He's not better than Lowry or Conley, he might not be better than either Bledsoe or Dragic. He's not a max player anymore and I don't think the Celtics want to give him a max deal.

*Rondo trade idea, Bargnani (expiring) and 1st rd pick (2015) for Rondo and LAC 1st rd pick (2015). Neither thinks Knicks would do it.

*Lowe thinks that Denver would probably be the most interesting team Rondo could be traded to.

explains how bad the Knicks really are, all the way up the organization. Not only is this a ridiculous trade idea but to suggest they wouldn't do it? Crazyyy
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

On the plus side, Rondo right now is better than Derrick Rose.

Not so sure. The Clippers pick will be somewhere in the late 20's, while the Knicks pick, even with Rondo, would probably still be a lottery pick. They speculated somewhere around 8. Plus, Rondo will be a FA and with their cap space they could sign him outright without losing a top 10 pick.

Lowe is really good. I would take his opinion on Rondo's value as a good measuring stick on where it is league wide.

I'm pretty convinced the most likely scenario here is Rondo reaching free agency and signing elsewhere.  Boston gets nothing.  That's how this is panning out.

Someone in better position to win will overpay Rondo and that's not going to be Boston.

so where is Rondo going to sign?

NYK and LAL are the only realistic options.  is a 37 yr old kobe going to give him a better chance to win? or a NYK triangle offense with Melo and nothing else?

C's have much better young prospects, have the ability to clear cap space to put a max next to him , and tons of draft picks to add to that

Yeah I forgot if they mentioned it in the same pod but I think Lowe said basically since Phil Jackson took over they're less inclined to do the impulsive crazy move, which is what trading for Rondo would be without a guarantee he'd stay. Even though I don't think Rondo is a Phil or triangle guy I think they'd still probably pursue Rondo just because there isn't anybody else available with star power.

He was basically saying that Rondo's value is very limited because he's expiring and the Knicks have no interest in winning this year.

I hate to even think about it, but Rondo would be good for the Lakers.  He could prevent Kobe from embarrassing himself further and there's nothing quite like Rondo when you have a bunch of scrubs.  He'd have Ed Davis and Jordan Hill shooting 70% like Zeller.  :)

we won't give him a max deal though

Do I understand this correctly, ie that Simmons agrees with Lowe's assessment of RR's value?

Of course he would be good for the Lakers , but what do the Lakers offer him more than the C's can ? C's could match the same offer . Kobe isn't going to be the go to guy on a contender, he is just to washed up for that at this point in his career . They don't have any other legit starters on that team, and Julius Randle coming off a broken leg .

1. Money. They could throw the max at Rondo, which we shouldn't max.
2. Major Market, which results in more money from endorsements.
