Right, but why would Washington give up their small pieces? That deal doesn't make sense for Washington. I don't see it helping either team. All for Vet-leadership but there are 7 Wizards aged 30 years or more including 2 players born in the 70s.

Because it fits their long term, dream plan.  Sign Durant when he is a FA.

They don't need him to be KG of old.

They need him to be a leader off the bench and give them 15-20 minutes of defense.  They still need a healthy Nene and Gortat in front of him.

But it is those type of small moves that can really help a team when the foundational talent is already there.

That's fine, but the Wizards don't have expirings to match, so they'd have to trade future picks or Porter to make it worth the Nets time. That's not a small move.  If KG is bought out after the deadline, then the Wizards should be one of the first teams to call him.  But at this point in his career, KG is worth a second round pick and expiring contracts.  Between Gortat, Nene, Humphries, and a rejuvenated Seraphin (who has a no-trade rights), the Wizards have a lot of frontcourt depth and quality.  They even have Dujuan Blair in a pinch.  They really don't need to trade their up-and-coming backup small forward for someone who might be the 5th option.

EDIT: Forgot they had Drew Gooden also.  The Wizards are not wanting for veteran frontcourt help.

isnt it that wizards signed 4 bigs at the same time? which plays similarly
rebounds offense etc; they don't just have the rim protection and perimeter defense
blair is a nice depth but ks played because he got the height, and isnt it that they should have signed athletic 4 or rim protector less offense big?

Why not bring KG back home to Boston??

Bass and Fav for KG works!!!

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6533265

It would cost us a little money ($3 million + penalties), but it would be a feel good story and mean a LOT to KG and our fans!!!

KG has essentially zero trade value, if he even consented to being traded.

Works for me.

Zeller and KG at center. Sully and Olynyk at PF. Better balanced big man rotation.

Washington already has arguably the best big man rotation in the league.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

From a basketball perspective I'd be down for that, but I don't think they'd go into the tax for such move. I dont' blame them for that.

It'd be a pretty poor argument, but you can argue about anything I guess.

nene have history of injury and hoping to be healthy all season
gooden is aging and there are times he plays well, but it is not recognized because nene and humphries covers all at PF

blair is not playing and gets early foul trouble
everytime gortat sits there is no one to protect the paint, having 6 bigs

seraphin was playing so good via offense...but dallas games and raptos game shows that there are still some problems out there

its a deep big rotation, but i don't know i think something is missing, maybe an athletic big or less offense more defense big, or a stretch 4 big

It would be nice but I think KG would be better suited to either Bulls or the Clips rather than the Wizards. I can't see him leaving the Nets, though, unless they basically force him out.

All right, well then let's hear your alleged strong argument against it.  No need for drive-by disses on people's opinions, at least tell people why you think their opinion is wrong or stupid.

Gortat is on the very short, almost non-existent list of good two-way Centers in the league right now.  Nene hasn't shown any signs of slowing down in past years, he's still top 10-11 among PFs.  They are the biggest reason for WAS being 5th in DRTG and 8th in DRB%, keeping them with the 2nd best record in the East all season long.  Throw in Humphries and Seraphin who are extrememly solid, and Gooden/Blair as reserves.  Adding KG simply doesn't improve their rotation much, all it does is give them a better injury replacement on the 3rd string (and I don't think that's nearly enough to make a trade).

Then all you've got is the Hawks who have nobody behind Horford/Milsap, Memphis who has nobody behind Randolph/Gasol, and Dallas who doesn't have much behind Dirk/Chandler (Brandon Wright is serviceable).

I think what you meant to say is there's basically 25 poor arguments around the league for best big rotation, and then Washington in the argument with 3-4 other teams.

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels

I would agree with mgent that Washington does have one of the best big man rotation. Is it the best, no? but I would put them in top 10. Nene and Gortat are serviceable and good centers/pf. Serephin is young and can already contribute to that young team and Humphries is good as well as well all know. Pierce can sometime play the 4.

That rotation aside, how many team can boast a good big man lineup. On top of my head

Clippers
Portland
Houston
Pelicans
Spurs
Dallas
Hawks?

am I missing any?

If the Nets season looks bleak, I wonder if KG might ask for a buyout, so he can latch onto a playoff team of his choosing.

And in that scenario, Washington would be a great fit.
