The 23 points yesterday was the result of abnormally good shooting which he won't be replicating more than one or two more times this season.  (Honestly his shot selection yesterday was horrific and we'd all be very angry at him right now if he hadn't lucked out massively.)

I'd expect something like 10/5/5 + elite defense if he's given about 30 mpg consistently. Should be eased in until that ankle is 100% though.

If he can get 20-25 min/ game the rest of the way the 10/5/5 seems like more likely totals.  I watched smart a lot in college as well, he is really a hot / cold shooter.  When the shots are dropping like they were last night it is fun, not so much when they aren't.  Hopefully he can improve the consistency of his shooting and his aggressiveness to get to the rim.

I agree we should be mixing his minutes between starters and subs and really see if he can  pair with Rondo as the starting 2.  If he can improve his shooting then it might be a good fit at the 2.  Smart def has the def intensity and kind of game changing attitude that we need, but lots of guys have had one great game in the nba.  It doesn't really prove much yet.  Hopefully he turns out to be a game changer.

So he needed 35 minutes in the best game of his career for 4 rebounds and 5 assists, but he'll average 5 rebs and 5 assists in 20 mpg. Yep, that makes perfect sense.

Take it easy.  Yeah the assists might be a bit high, but I was just agreeing with oldtype about more moderate expectations.  Ok say 10/4/3.  Happy?

He'll get minutes. My main expectation is that he'll establish good habits in terms of shot selection. He can average 5 ppg for what I care.
