He finally accumulated over 30 minutes, granted, it took 35 minutes. But impressive statline, 23 points  4 rebounds and 5 assist. That's borderline all star statline if he got that production every game along with those minutes. I Didn't want last nights game but did go in the in game thread and a lot of positives were being said about smart.

I've loved smart since Danny Ainge said in an interview that he loved what smart brings to the game pre draft. The kid brings toughness and energy every time he's on the court, in a couple years he will be bullying every point Gaurd in the league, start breeding him now as the starting point.

Since he is coming back from an badly injured ankle I'm fine easing him back in. If he isn't playing 30 minutes a game by the new year i'll be surprised, if he isn't playing 30 minutes a game by the trade deadline i'll be shocked.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'd like to see Smart get more PT alongside Rondo ... to see how well those two can play together (or not). To see if Smart can take Bradley's starting role in the future at SG.

Or if Rondo and Smart need to be separated to make most of their respective talents.

also, I'd start him at SG before I'd start him at point. I want to see if he can what Bradley does but better.

He certainly put in a good bid for more minutes last night.  I'm guessing coach Brad was paying attention.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

If he can average 23-4-5 as a rookie he'll be in some extraordinarily elite company:

And, of course, we'll all proceed to gush precious bodily fluids everywhere if he does, because that's some franchise centerpiece level of play, which is what we're all looking for out of our draft picks.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I like Marcus Smart.  But I do deny him my essence.

Smart wont avg 23 pts as rookie or for his career.

Something like 17, 5, 5, 2 steals a game is more likely.  He will make 1st or 2nd all defensive teams on a regular basis though. Play for the USA team also.  Danny lucked out getting him at 6.

Saw the list

Absolutely CRAZY how the big O was able to basically average a triple double in his rookie year

I wonder if Lebron really knows who this guy is, because he should pay close attention
I trust Danny Ainge

Not to get off track, the Big O was amazing for his time, he simply had no one in the league who could guard him.  At that time in NBA history the vast majority of his nightly matchups were undersized, slow, white players.  No one was ready for the athleticism of Big O and he could do whatever he wanted out there.

The 23 points yesterday was the result of abnormally good shooting which he won't be replicating more than one or two more times this season.  (Honestly his shot selection yesterday was horrific and we'd all be very angry at him right now if he hadn't lucked out massively.)

I'd expect something like 10/5/5 + elite defense if he's given about 30 mpg consistently. Should be eased in until that ankle is 100% though.

We need to clear some roster space to get him more minutes.  We need to find minutes for Young as well.  Thornton has to go... maybe for a second.  Is there any chance a contending team will give us a first for Turner?

he drives a lot in college so I don't understand why he doesn't do it in the NBA...no green light? BS has other plans for him? idk, but I kinda hope to see him use his body more since he's so freaking big
