the reason I ask is because if this was the 1985-86 season and the C's had that 67-15 record (40-1) at home, I truly believe a lot of numb nuts on this board would be trying to trade Bird, McHale or Parish just because you have no rap and nothing else better to post.

get off the trade, trade, trade. grab a cold one, sit back and enjoy some good Celtic basketball!!!

Well, in 07-08 we went 66-16, and there was lots of Chicken Little'ing and bizarre trade ideas, as well as plenty of posters who spent the whole year outraged that we'd made such an obviously terrible trade for KG.

So yeah, it's gonna happen no matter what.  Oddly, I've noticed the overall tone of the board seems to get more and more negative as the actual team gets better.

Also there aren't many trades period, especially those involving stars - unless a player is unhappy or there's something else going on.  That's why its dumb to speculate about swapping rondo for an All Star big.  But maybe those posting haven't been observing the NBA for very long.

More invested in the season, thus any disappointment is taken way harder. Of course there is way more trolling since we've been bad, WAY more trolling.

You mean to tell me the posters going into active game threads to openly root for a loss might not be 100% sincere?   :o

Best forum post ever.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

Don't forget to clarify that the only way to get this is tuning into ESPN Classic.

But that's exactly it - this team is not 67-15. It's not even .500. This is a team that is lacking star talent and a defensive big man.

Besides, I think most of the trade proposals are just for fun. 90%of them aren't realistic but it's something people like to do because basketball trades are probably the most exciting of all the major sports.

Finally, I find that some of the pessimistic posts balance out the natural homer-ism inherent to all sports fans.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think we are all being so deliberately ridiculous this is no longer a legit question.
We are a fantasy board and we love it.
