This is an ideal Rondo offer I think. Hopefully something similar can get done.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k9cz7y3BOS trades: Rajon Rondo, Kelly Olynyk, 2015 LAC 1st rounder
BOS receives: Jonas Jerebko, Joel Anthony, 2015 DET 1st rounder (top 3 protected in 2015, unprotected 2016-beyond), 2015 NOP 1st rounder (from Houston; 1-3 protected/20-30 protected in 2015 and in future drafts should it not be conveyed, should fall within 10-14)
DET trades: Brandon Jennings, Jonas Jerebko, Joel Anthony, 2015 DET 1st rounder
DET receives: Rajon Rondo, Jason Terry, Donatas Montiejunas, 2015 LAC 1st
HOU trades: Jason Terry, Donatas Montiejunas, 2015 NOP 1st rounder
HOU receives: Brandon Jennings, Kelly Olynyk
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mtdkgjfLet Jeff Green opt out and free up the cap space. Take the best deals available for Thornton, Bass, and obviously Wallace. Let's assume Danny doesn't find a deal he likes for any of them.
That should give us a pick in the top five (our own), 5-10 (Detroit's), and 10-14 (Pels') in this year's draft. Let's say we have to move our pick and Detroit's pick for the number one pick. Trade our second rounder and Philly's second rounder for a 1st 25-30. Select Willie Caulie-Stein with NOP's 1st. Select Andrew Harrison with the 1st 25-30.
Paul Pierce opts out of WSH deal. Pierce signs a two year, $10 mil/year deal with a player opt-out after one year. Sign a vet backup guard like Jannero Pargo on a cheap one-year deal. Sign a vet F/C like Reggie Evans.
Marcus Smart/Andrew Harrison/J. Pargo
Avery Bradley/Evan Turner/[James Young]
Paul Pierce/James Young/[Evan Turner]/Gerald Wallace
Jared Sullinger/R. Evans/[T. Zeller]/D. Powell
Jahlil Okafor/T. Zeller/W. Caulie-Stein
Depending on the progression of Smart and Sullinger, I think that could be a playoff team. We'd be sitting pretty with loads of young talent, plenty of future picks still in stock, our old captain back, and plenty of cap space heading into the 2016 offseason.
Thoughts?
