16 assists, +40 on the court, it was a fantastic performance by Rondo. Whether the team is tanking or not, I feel great whenever we blow out the Lakers.  ;D

Despite losing control of the ball against the Cavs, I still think that that was his best game of the season, but this one is definitely up there.  I guess that I rank the one against Cleveland higher because of the level of competition, lol, but on the other hand, it is the Lakers, so how about a tie? ;D

Tyler Zeller's best game of the season.

Rondo assisted on 7 of Zeller's 10 hoops. I'll go out on a limb and say the two things are connected.

I have been calling for Zeller to start for a while now.
He and Rondo have a good chemistry.
So do Pressey and Olynyk.

Zeller is a much better player than people realize.
He has a very good jump shot which he should use more often.

Good game by Rondo. He pushed the pace from start to finish last night.  He didnt hesitate before shooting open jump shots. Good snapping of the wrist and follow through.  Passed the ball well from all over the court. He got deeper into the post several times before passing the ball

Also a nice game by Zeller. On both ends. Very good hands to receive difficult passes without bobbling the ball

this may all be accurate. but the real tests will come when zeller plays against teams with credible front lines. hopefully he can repeat his level of play.

the lakers are a p--- poor team so it is difficult to judge zeller's talent, but i give zeller credit for taking advantage of that mismatch.

I think Rondo's game last night was about what Rondo is as a player.  Lot's of nifty passes that resulted in good shots for other players.  The assists didn't seem forced as they do sometimes.  Everything in the flow of the game.  It was against a weak opponent but he played the right way.  He created good pace and good ball movement.  It isn't all about Rondo's assists.  Good ball movement needs to lead to assists by everyone.  We need more than just one pass and a shot, we need two and three passes, and there were cases of that last night.

He was also 6-17 from the field and did not take any free throws.  You can't say he didn't look to score (although there was not much at the basket), he took what they were giving him.  Rondo's man did a lot double teaming, clogging up the middle.  His defense was sufficient but even Jeremy Lin was getting past him.

So that is the Yin and the Yang of Rondo's game.  The net of all of that is still a high level player.  No one else in the league can make some of the passes that he made or at least not with as much precision.  He gets the ball not just to the player but to the player at exactly the right time and right where it is easiest for the other player to make a play.  I love watching that part of Rondo's game.

He was still only 6-17 on what were mostly lightly contested or even uncontested shots.  I am OK with Rondo as who he is.  Every player has flaws and limitations.  A middle of the pack (top 15 ish) PG is still an asset and a value for a team.  There will be nights where he has a run and hits maybe 10 of 17 and on those nights, he will carry the team and for those nights, he will be a top 5 PG in the league.

Nice game for Rondo, that's the Rondo we need every night. He and Zeller we're really clicking. Zeller is just the type of big Rondo likes, runs the floor well, with good hands, nice pick and roll guy.

Bring in a quality Center ......not knocking Godzeller .....he's learning........but Rondo needs the skills of bigs with soft mitts and size .....

Remember Shaq .....KG .....guys who can handle the ball low .

Bring in MArc Gasol or such big man on the block

Rondo will have 14 assists every game.

I'll second this. I was pumped to see the Rondo/Zeller combo in full swing, but the Lakers D makes the C's D seem downright stingy. We won't have to wait long to see it tested though: Zeller will have to contend with Gortat and Nene the next two games.

Or just get rind of Rondo and get someone that doesn't have so many "needs" to have a good game.
