Well my gameplan was to sign marc gasol to a max deal but with the Grizzlies doing amazing this season I doubt he will leave for anywhere.

Best shot is to tank it up and roll the lottery dice again.

That's why we tanked last year.   Hopefully Smart turns into one.   But we stink this year too so maybe we'll get lucky in the lotto finally.  Welcome to year 2 of the 3-5 year rebuild that may or may not work.

I really hope we don't end up picking in the 6-10 range. Obviously, stars like Dirk, PP and Lillard were picked there, but we need better odds than that. Otherwise, we could be looking at a long rebuild and counting on the BKN picks.

Even if we end up with a 6-8 pick we might be able to swing a deal for Carmelo with that and some other pieces (Green, Smart, KO) and have enough assets left over to make a play for a top-tier interior defender.

I'm betting that'll be Ainge's play if we don't get a top 3 pick.

All depends on whether or Melo is in it for the long haul. You really he would leave this or next year? He resigned cause Phil went to NY under the assumption, it would be a rebuilding process.

Maybe you're right. I hadn't realized their cap situation would be so good this summer.

It's depressing thinking about how far we have to go to be good again

We have 5 first round picks in the next two years.

We also have some good young players that will be getting better.

Yup, we need to be patient and enjoy watching the young guys develop.

Let me guess, trade Rondo?

I don't think anyone would want him at this point.
