Primary Parts:

Boston: Noel, Richardson, Shved, NYK Unprotected 2018 1st round pick (earliest pick they can trade)

Phi: Stoudemire, Olynyk, NYK 2015 1st, 2016 protected Cavs pick from us

NY: Rondo, Wallace, 2015 Clips 1st from us (due to Stepien rule)

Why Boston does this: With our lottery luck, we won't have a shot at Towns or Okafor.  This trade would give us our defensive big, and his ties to the area give us a great shot at keeping him long-term.  We'd move on "developing talent" with our core of Smart, Young, Sully, and Noel. We'd probably land high enough to get a good wing in Oubre or Johnson, and we'd have an extremely young and talented starting five in Smart, Young, Oubre/Johnson, Sully, Noel. Also, we essentially trade out our 2015 Clips pick for an unprotected 2018 Knicks pick, which has the potential to be in the lottery by then. We do lose Olynyk and the Cavs' late first round pick from 2016, but we'll have to choose between Sully or Olynyk sometime anyways. We'd also be able to shop Green, Bass, and Bradley for even more assets, too.

Why Philly does this: The overwhelming feeling is if Philly can get Okafor or Towns, they'll shop Noel for further assets.  Depending on when this trade goes down, the Knicks pick could be a pretty good lottery pick, and they'd get the Cavs pick as a further asset, which is a much better return on their players than they were getting last year in 2nd rounders. Also, it would futher help their tanking efforts this year, while also bringing in a good prospect in Olynyk that will be an excellent floor spacer next to their bigs.

Why NY does this: The Knicks do this to virtually ensure their chances of signing Rondo long-term next offseason, which will more than likely come down to who's willing to offer the money.  I know there's talk that he doesn't fit in the triangle, but star players are star players. He's a perfect fit with Carmelo, and the other complementary pieces (shooters like THJ, Calderon, and Smith) are all good fits, too. They'd also get Wallace as a nice piece off the bench, and the addition of Rondo helps them to try and lure better players. They essentially get him by taking on Wallace, giving up a future first, and downgrading their 2015 1st.

Who says no?

Hey now... that's not bad.

I think Boston might be giving up a bit too much here. While we unload Wallace, Rondo, Olynyk and two firsts is a hefty package (despite Olynyk's recent slump). Could we give Philly our second rounder this year and Dwight Powell instead of the Cavs pick?

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

They might bite on something like that. I'm guessing it'd depend how far in the lottery the NY pick would end up being.

I don't.  He got paid prior to being injured.

I think Philly says "no" based on Noah is really a rookie, this year and they do not know his ceiling.

I like this a lot. It seems like a fair trade all around. If we are going to move on from Rondo, a young starting five of Smart/Young or Bradley/Lotto pick (Johnson would be awesome)/Sully/Noel with Young or Bradley as the 6th man would at least be entertaining to watch develop. Getting rid of Wallace and getting the Knicks pick definitely helps.

I'd have to change my name to Number_Th1rtyS1x though  ???

I think the point is for the 76ers to trade either or, not both.

I like this trade, but certainly Philly would have to really like Olynk a lot to accept it.   I think over time Noel will have similar value to Olynk, but for our team we need a rim protector and if Embiid is healthy they need a stretch 4.  Will never happen until they know Embiid is healthy.   Have to wait for any deal like this.

I think Larry Sanders would be good for us.   Perhaps Bass and Olynk for Sanders and the clips pick.

I'd love to see a defensive unit.

By the end of the season I'd want to see how this group would do

Smart, Young, Green, Sullinger and Sanders.

I'd love to have Sanders, too, though I don't know how williing the Bucks are now to trade him since they're playing good ball. I think Rondo could do wonders with an above-the-rim big like Sanders, Jordan, Gobert, etc.
