After yesterday's game, Stevens hinted at some possible late-game lineup changes.  Referencing the continuous fourth quarter woes, he said that if you're not playing well, it may be necessary to use the bench instead of the starters.

Yesterday, I know at least twice I saw him look visibly upset with Rondo and Green on a couple of plays, and it's happened before with Bradley, too.

Who exactly do you think he was talking about? It very well could be Rondo's free throw issues and defensive lapses.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Green is doing fine, at least he tries
It's Rondo's slowing the pace style that killed Green's(and everybody's) momentum
Stevens is a patient guy, but i think he is about enough with Rondo

IMO - if DA resigns Rondo, Stevens will head back to college....I just don't see that relationship working long term...

Which is too bad because I think Stevens could be a very good NBA coach but I think Rondo prevents that from happening because of his style of play...

For now We can start Smart/Tuner(two point guard)/Green/Sully/Kelly as 1st line
Rondo/AB/Wallace/Bass/Zeller as second unit against opposing bench

We can still trade Rondo after he resigns, and even if he stay you can use him as a 6th man/pace changer(when you want to get slow/half court offense)

Well, I wasn't really trying to make this into a trash Rondo thread lol I was just trying to figure out who Stevens might be talking about with these late game scenarios, and, honestly, Rondo's fourth quarter woes in the last several games have made him the most obvious target.

It's easy to fixate on the fourth quarter disasters but the Philly game was just as worrisome.  With our supposedly high-powered offense and a chance to take out our frustrations on what may turn out to be one of the worst team's in league history, Boston bumbled their way through 3 quarters before finally securing the win.

How about benching Rondo for a spell? I mean honestly his play has been pretty bad and I feel like we're a better team with him on the bench (stats may prove me otherwise I haven't really delved into it). I feel like the ball gets stuck in his hands when he's on the floor.

Yeah our offense has essentially fallen back to league average, and our defense still sucks.

Trade Rondo and turn the team over to Smart.

The thing is, it's not just the unit that finishes the fourth quarter that is playing bad, it's pretty much all units that play in the fourth. Not sure what kind of substitutions will help if all your players are playing poorly in the fourth.

Smart will certainly help when he comes back.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah the bench heavy units at the start of the fourth get the basketbawful started and the starters close the deal....

I think it starts mainly in the third. They get tired and stop pushing the pace, and that's exactly when the tide starts to turn.

I think it's partly fatigue but mostly because that's when the playoff-caliber teams we keep playing stop coasting and start ratcheting up their intensity.  We get steadily overwhelmed until we're struggling to just get a shot off late.
