What can I say I am done with avery bradley. Sure he can shoot pretty well and we all love his defense but its not worth it. He is not a smart enough player and that's being nice. I cringe when him and bass are out there trying to do to much because I know they're about to turn it over. Whether its dribbling off his foot to end a game or just telegraphing a pass he simply doesn't get it. He's a liability. It's like watching a middle schooler.

For god's sake,  I'm so tired of hearing people whine about the exact same garbage over, and over, and over,  and over...

Every day is the same garbage....Bradley sucks, Rondo sucks, x person sucks, Y person sucks...

X person > Avery Bradley
Y person > Avery Bradley

Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

AB should be a 6th man. This team lacks talent so he starts.  I got no issues with AB at 8 million per as a six man player under soon to come cap #s. Blame the current roster state that requires him to get so many shots or be the go to guy late. AB haters have to get real. AB isn't the problem on this team.

Nice sensible post!

Avery has talent, but he does still play young.  In part, that is because he IS young.  When a 23 year old guy scores 15 ppg on 47% shooting (53% 2-point shooter on  a lot of long 2's), you keep him -- especially if he can also play some D.  His turnovers are not at an abominably high rate and I believe the dumb mistakes will diminish over time.

Unfortunately, when you are playing under a microscope, every mistake is magnified.

Thanks  to those who resisted piling on in the game thread yesterday.  I think posters should play close attention to not hijacking game threads with pet peeves.   Not saying not to discuss a bad play on the game thread, but it's the repetition of the 'he sucks' theme that gets tiresome. Instead, start a thread like this.

Food for thought:

Compared to the average shooting guard in this league, Avery Bradley does just about everything slightly worse.

Compared specifically to Thabo Sefalosha, who makes less than 4 million a year and also provides tough defense, Bradley does most things SIGNIFICANTLY worse.

Pretty tough to argue that the Bradley deal is a good one when looking at the facts objectively.

Well, Thabo gives a whole new meaning to the term "offensively inept", so there's that...
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

So you would trade AB at 7.1M for Sefolosha at 4M (plus filler).   I wouldn't.

I wouldn't even have to think twice about pulling the trigger on that deal. To me that would be a no brainer and a win for the C's talent wise.

I respect your opinion, but I'm surprised.  AB is about 7 years younger, Sefolosha has never averaged more than 7 points a game (and in decline).  He boards well and plays some good D (and is long), but I think you need some points from the 2-guard position.  AB shooting 53% from 2 (and many long 2's).   Who replaces AB's scoring at the 2? Turner? Smart? Doubt either would, and doubt either is safer (at least at this point in time) with the ball in their hands.   TS adds a dimension though.  I'd trade Turner for him.

Not sure what you're expecting for $8 million a year?
Someone who doesn't look like a complete disaster when you give him the ball and he can't shoot it right away? Is that too much to ask for?

He's actually being paid $7.1 million this year, and assuming the plan is to trade him while his value is high as part of a package for a better player, he's very good value.

He's unlikely to be an All Star, but per 36 minutes he's a 17 point, 47% FG player that plays both ends and appears to have overcome his injury concerns at age 24.
If he can shoot close to 40% again this season he's going to be a very valuable trade asset especially under the new CBA.

He'll be gone soon enough so don't get too attached.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

I feel like he's going to stay for at least two more years.

only way he stays is if we can't make a trade for a star or we lose Rondo and Smart becomes our starting PG.

If we keep Rondo and Smart, there is basically zero chance we keep Bradley.
I can see him being moved in a deal for Roy Hibbert or another big man too.

I can see Rondo being re-signed, Bradley being kept, and Smart not cracking the starting lineup until his third or fourth season as one potential outcome.

That's an awfully long way to say "I can see us being a horrible team for the next 5 years".

Have you seen him trying to dribble, pass or make a layup in traffic?
