It's mind boggling that this kid is stuck on the bench. It really is. Just a dumb move. There is no defending it.

1. We have some of the worst players in the league on our bench getting minutes, how the hell can we not get Young 15 a night? Evan Turner and Marcus Thornton are terrible, terrible players. James Young should play over both of them. Even as a rookie.

2. We are one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the league. We could use a guy with a good shot like Young off the bench. I'd much rather seeing James Young working on his 3 point shooting that watching Evan Turner brick shot after shot after shot.

3. He is a good compliment to Rondo. We have a lot of ball dominant players on this team with Rondo, Smart, Turner, even Green. Having a good catch and shoot guy is important off the bench.

4. We suck. We need to develop our youth. The best way to develop young players is to play them. I know Young is one of the youngest players in the league, but giving him limited minutes isn't going to hinder his development.

5. Quite frankly Young is one of our 10 best players. He shouldn't be on the end of the bench.

I would like to see him get more minutes if we are going to be as poor as we were last night. However, you have to note that he got absolutely torched on defense while he was in the game.

We will see him more this year after we make some deals before the deadline to clear out the veterans.

The three possessions he was in last night, he got burned on defense. That's why he doesn't play more. I'm not sure where everyone gets all this James Young hype from. He'll be a fantastic player when it's all said and done, and he does need to get some burn either here or in Maine. However, to suggest he's one of our ten best players and better at this stage of his career than Turner and Thornton is asinine. This putting him on a pedestal stuff from the extremely small sample size we have of him is just kind of ridiculous.

Evan Turner and Marcus Thornton are both significantly better than James Young is right now.

And the 70 possessions he wasn't in last night, the rest of the team got burned on defense.

That's a garbage cop out.

I like James Young, but he isn't top ten. He's unproven. My only problem is if you're not gonna play him, send him to the D-league.. As a shooter, he needs to build confidence.. Young can smoke D League. Hell if Terrence. Williams can score over twenty, Young can score at least eighteen.

No they aren't.

There is a reason why no one wants Marcus Thornton and he keeps betting packaged in meaningless trades and there is a reason why Turner got passed off for a late 2nd round pick (ie nothing) then signed a deal that wasn't even worth half of the MLE.

Both are terrible players who are nothing more than end of bench fodder.

Of course he is unproven. He is a rookie who has played like 6 minutes all season.

But then again, that's the point. We need to be playing guys like him to help him improve and get better.

I would like to point out that the likelihood of James Young not being good enough to supplant any of the 'worst players in the league' that he's stuck behind is not getting nearly enough credit in this thread.

He is just not ready yet.  Give him time.  He will get his chance.

I forgot that some people still think we are going to make the playoffs this year.

Where it is much more beneficial to us to play fringe NBAers like Turner and Thornton and maybe win 1 more game because they are marginally better than a rookie, rather than give limited minutes to said rookie and develop him.

HINT: We suck. We are going to finish bottom 5 in the league. We are going to get another high lottery pick.

Yes they are.  (this is fun!)

Is there a reason why James Young can't get any playing time ahead of Marcus Thornton and Evan Turner?

It's ridiculous to continue to play these vets that have already reached their ceiling.  Young needs reps to get better.   This team is a pointless collection of assets.  Danny really needs to thin the roster and let the kids play for the future.   Screw this talk that Young isn't as good as the others, that's missing the whole point.

Are you familiar with the concept of earned playing time?

Honest question -- I don't believe in being condescending until it's established beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone's just being obnoxious, rather than simply ignorant.

It'll happen...but later on in the season.

I'd say there's a fair likelihood that Thornton isn't on this roster by the end of the season.  He'll get move as part of some package.  Turner's another one that I wouldn't be completely surprised is not on this roster past the trade deadline.  I have a feeling more opportunities will open up for Young.  Just need more patience about it.
