I don't understnand the folks who say "he's toast" at 29 years old. He still looks like the same player to me, a defensive oriented center who uses his size and strenth to be effective. Amazing how playing next to KG in his prime can make you look. He's never been a great player but he's a serviceable center who brings toughness and leadership. He has a value and I would love to see him here in Boston as a role player and spot starter.

While Perkins' days of being an impact player are long gone, our C situation is so pathetic one has to consider bringing in just about any big who knows how to play team defense.

While the C is bad I don't think Perkins will thread the needle at all.

This team could use some big man leadership (especially if they can move out Bass).  Perk is of value there.  Plus, he can still play solid defense for 10 to 20 minutes.


This team can only have so many young players to grow.  They need vet leadership and know how.  The key is not getting the vet role players making to much money.

Adams is a good young big and Perk is his backup. Perk wouldn't start here and I dont care how much his fans beg for him and inflate him.

Now, with that said, I would definitely want him for what OKC uses him for, some defense, energy and leadership off the bench. His leadership and toughness would be great for our youngins. Last night when Perk scored those 3 buckets came from hustle and energy, OKC was amped and the young players took it from there. We could use that, Smart has been that guy, but I think Perk or someone like him can help the bigs more and that's where the real issue is, defensively (KO def can use a lil Perk grit).

I saw him push Sully several times like he was not there and easily move him and this was slimmed down Perk.   Right contract and I'd be ok with it as well

I think he can help some of our younger players, especially KO and Sully learn some of the finer points of big man defense and his intensity and attitude is something that this team misses.

You can't teach footspeed something Sully and KO lack.

Apparently that concept must be overrated to the C's.  Sully and Olynyk's defense grew leaps and bounds after the C's acquired Anthony.  Anthony was considerably cheaper than what Perk will get.

I'd love to see Perk back on the C's.  I doubt it'll happen.

Get real, these guys are smart players and I really KO is trying but both are unathletic and poor defenders.   The more I see Sully play, the more I think he is lazy on D.

this raises an mildly interesting question. right now, is perk or anthony the better center? and is there a great difference between them? as badly as the celtics need a center they gave anthony the boot.

i suspect roster space was more a concern than money in this decision. even if anthony has some talent left, the celtics don't need an aging center in decline. they would rather use the roster spot for a younger play with some upside or potential.

IF this were the case (upside > aging ability) then i doubt the celtics would see perk as desirable.
