So far, Harden, Lowry, Ellis, Jackson and Morrow all have gone off against us. I thought the backcourt defense was supposed to be this team's strength?

With the exception of Morrow you're talking about some very talented offensive players.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

It doesn't help if you don't have a center to prevent their penetration. It's really not ALL the guards fault.

Agreed, it's just that 'good offensive player scores basket' isn't really that shocking, you know?

I'm on the record saying if I could get the Celtics one present for the holidays it would be a rim protector. I think it's what the team needs, but this gnashing of teeth is a little ridiculous. Our team is not very good, but our backcourt defense is one of the best things that the team has to offer.

The backcourt is doing its job- slowing down the ball handler and mostly funnelling them into specific areas late in the shot clock. It's not so much overrated as impossible, especially with all the targeted quickness training and no-handcheck rule. The responsibility lies mostly on the bigs, as they are either: 1) Not carrying their end of the P&R Defense or 2) Just plain not mobile and/or athletic enough to contest shots well.

It looks to me that Stevens wants an aggressive "never go under," attack and disrupt the ballhandler P&R defense and the guards adjusted while the bigs are still stuck in last year's system where they'd go under and take away drives (which is unaffective due to the guards going over and the increase in space to work with for the ballhandler).

Joey Crawford makes Scottie Pippen look like Brian Scalabrine.

The fix was in. Joey whistled Olynyk out of the game.
