Unfortunately that is the cold hard truth. We are fun to watch, are gritty and most likely have a bright future but right now we are not a good team and we have no go to scoring. Sullinger, Smart, Rondo, AB and Young are good players with upside but the rest of this team are bench guys at best. (Not sure about Olynyk, he seems to be in a funk but quietly puts up 18 and 13 tonight. I do not get it.)
We are going to be better than last year by a few games but lets stop with any thoughts of playoffs.

Best description of last night's loss.

How a team can find a way to lose when they have out-rebounded their opponent 55-24 and shot the ball 51.3% from the field, 38.5% from three on 26 attempts and 94% from FT Line ... I mean, that is hard to do. How a team can do that well in those areas and still find a way to lose.

My green glass is half full fellas.  Toronto should win the atlantic.  We CAN outplay them.  Dallas and Houston are legit contenders.  So far this season our offense when clicking looks very good.  Let Stevens get rotations going and players into the swing of things, 82 games…..

I don't mind losing to Toronto normally. They are a good team.

But when they are without Jonas Valanciunas and Amir Johnson and their big man rotation is far worse than ours, then I expect Boston to win that game. Especially when the game is on the Celtics own home floor.

That was a bad loss last night. One they let slip through their fingers.

yes we should have won and you could make a point that we could have won dallas as well
rondo and green are "vets" and the rest of our starters are still younger, i think as the season goes we will do just fine
i am still waiting for ainge to unload some sg/pf and give us an upgrade somewhere in lineup
can't keep all those picks….or can we?

Find ways to lose is right. I've loved every game so far and everything I wanted to happen has come through, and some. However despite the high octane offense and lock down D, they still have a problem closing games. Raptors game is a prime example. I think this alone will lose them more games than anything (talent, defense, offense, fatigue) except maybe injury.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Not to mention Toronto on the second night of a back to back.

I don't like the "finding a way to " win/lose narratives. We lost the game last night a lot because we turned the ball over a tremendous amount and a little because Marcus Smart got into a p---ing contest in crunch time with a better player. If you wanted to pick one single thing that swung the outcome of the game, I'd say it was the amazingly bad performance of Evan Turner.

Some extra turnovers should be expected when you are playing as aggressively and pushing the ball up the court as hard as we were, but we also saw some really loose handle and bad passing from the likes of Turner, Green, Bradley, Rondo, and Smart. Hopefully they can tighten things up as the season progresses, because all of those players (except for Turner) have a lot of good things going for them.

I agree that I don't like the "bad teams find a way to lose" I would say it's more "young teams find a way to be inconsistent"

We've seen this on many young teams, both Celtics and otherwise.  When you're a young team with alot of talent, you look great in flashes, but when things go wrong, like a 12-2 run for the other team, it's tough for those guys to draw on their non-existent experience and slow the game down, get back in control, ect.

I will say I've always hated that Muppet Evan turner's game, and boy does he stall out both the offense and the defense when he comes in. Kid can score at times, but he has the basketball IQ of a lemming.

“I will hurt you for this. A day will come when you think you’re safe and happy and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth. And you will know the debt is paid.” – Tyrion

The 4th quarter collapse tonight reminded me of this thread.

Boston played very well through 3 quarters had a firm grasp on entering the 4th quarter and still found a way to lose the game. Turnovers including back to back travels. Several unforced defensive errors. Rondo -- one of the finest and most dependable ball-handlers in the league -- bobbling the ball and managing to not even get a shot off as the game ended.

Bizarre mistakes. Fnding new and strange to lose games.

What does mean "team"? is the coach and GM included in this "team"?

Yep we're a young team... we have some nice young pieces but are still many factors away from competing. We'll get there. Tonight there were definitely some head scratching mistakes however

Just watched the game for the third time and still can't figure out how we lost to the Cavs.  must be some kind of time warp thing!!!

The flaw in this argument is that bad teams don't regularly find themselves with double-digit leads, even against good teams.

4th quarter was an absolute meltdown. Really no way to sugarcoat it.

Stupid play after stupid play on the court.  So frustrating to watch.  This was much more about the Celtics choking and handing away the game than CLE staging an impressive comeback.
