Barack Obama: Michael Jordan should focus on Charlotte Hornets, not my golf game

I thought his response to MJ's shot at him was quite on target and appropriate.

Jordan is so over the top competitive and carries such a grudge, I would not be surprised if this angers him.  He ended his friendship with Barkley because Barkley criticized his performance as a GM.  Remember his HOF speech and Bryon Russell?

Perhaps President Obama should focus on living up to his campaign promises such as ending indefinite detention (http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/sep/11/guantanamo-prisoner-death-democrats) and creating a transparent government (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/29/obama-guantanamo-bay-force-feeding-hearing-secret & http://dissenter.firedoglake.com/2013/09/04/judges-gag-order-cuts-off-press-from-receiving-reports-on-barrett-browns-case/) instead of Michael Jordan's job as a basketball executive.

It's hard to discern the tone of Obama's comments, but he comes off surprisingly bitter over something as innocuous as a dig on his golf game.

Yeah, I found that part interesting as well. It gives the feeling that there may be some previous beef between MJ and Obama.

I listened to it.  Obama was just trying to be funny and charming, but Jordan might not take it too well.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Bobcats win the championship years from now and Jordan brings it up.

That's easily the most decisive and forceful that Obama has been since he called Kanye a jackass on the radio after the Taylor Swift VMA thing lol.  I know that he's a huge NBA fan, but early on in his presidency it seemed that the only way to get through to him was if you played him one-on-one lol, and I voted for the guy.  Twice.  Honestly, he sounds more like Pat Riley telling Ainge to Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. off last year than anything else, lol.  Besides, who cares about Michael Jordan's golf game?  It's just another way for him to satisfy his competitive itch and gambling problem, although it is quite funny that the sport he chooses as his avenue for such activities is golf - a game that no one can master lol.

While I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment, I don't think that you should use the guardian as a source.  Their coverage of the crisis in Ukraine was appalling.  None of their columnists had the slightest clue as to what they were talking about when they attempted to explain the complex history of the region.  Idk, maybe it's just me, but they came off as complete morons, and sounded like they might as well have just copied any pasted any and every clueless comment that has been made by John McCain, lol.  Sorry, that just bothered me ;D.  I guess it's like, "if you're going to insult me, do it properly," haha ;D.

Interesting, I didn't really follow them during the Western media's orgy of Ukraine coverage. I read them from time to time but hardly as much as I used to after Glenn Greenwald (my favorite journalist) left them to create his own venture. Anyways, I get my news from all over the place, so I'm not too concerned about being misled by biases or ignorance.

I know what you mean though. I read NYT every once and a while and hate myself at the end of each article because of their compliance with the Bush administration's aggression towards Iraq and the Obama administration's aggression towards Iraq and Syria. But I guess if we held grudges towards every media outlet, no matter how obscure, there'd hardly be anything left to read!

The Guardian always has entertaining editorial and columnists. Many of their leader writers are substandard though.

It's not like a lot of Western media sources covered themselves in glory with their insight into the Ukraine, a largely 'unsexy' political story. It's a bit unfair to single out The Guardian for this.

My apologies Roy. I think we can all agree we can all laugh at Jordan's record as a GM ;D

Mr. Obama sure loves to point fingers
