…the forum is just ridiculous. Often enough I simply can't believe what I'm reading here.

It starts with all the Rondo-bashing, which I really can't understand, since he's the last guy around from our championship team.

Then there are guys who are suggesting to start James Young over Bradley, after Young made 3 Layups during garbage time in a blowout loss. What are these people smoking?

Same thing with starting Smart over Rondo…. Besides from the fact, that it will NEVER happen, how can you seriously believe Smart is the better option?

I won't even start about some "trade ideas" some guys here come up with…

I know that everybody is thinking: "Then just don't read it!". I know I shoudn't but I still do, maybe I'm a masochist!
I really like the writers and their articles on celticsblog, but can anyone of you recommend a more serious celtics fan-forum, where people don't come up with so much BS? Maybe one where you have to pass an IQ test before you can subscribe for it?

I hate to break it to you, but this is one of the smartest basketball forums on the web. Act accordingly.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

So what it boils down to is that you checked posts/opinions from two or three particular posters and from that extrapolated your opinions on CelticsBlog as a whole.

Good job.

Seconded, and I'll add that a lot of the opinions you hate are coming from people who would "pass an IQ test" (what's a "passing" IQ grade, anyway?)  Otherwise smart people often make really dumb judgments about things they are emotionally invested in - just look at politics.

My advice is to ignore the ridiculous posts and try to elevate the discussion yourself by making posts you consider interesting and insightful, and responding to the same kind.  And don't get depressed when the bad posts inevitably get 10x the attention  ;)

It would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinions. It's also not the best approach to think you are better then others. The iq test remark was not needed.

Should we censor or mute those with different opinions?

We're all here to discuss the Celtics, sure sometimes topics get pretty crazy, but it can get boring around here. My favorite posters are often the ones on either end of the spectrum, just for the entertainment value alone.

Relax and try to have some fun.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

TP!  That is such great advice for a newbie, and for all of us really.

Come on, what about the trade ideas? I see some FASCINATING things here...

"Let's trade Bass, Green, 2nd round pick for James, CP3, Gasol, Duncan and Kyle".
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

Hah this forum is pretty solid.  Plenty of opinions.  Not everyone agrees with each other. It's good.

This is probably true. I checked out a few other sites before I started coming here and the difference was fairly big. Although some of the posters we've picked up over the last few years have dragged down the level of the forums. It's still better than I remember from other sites though.

Yeah compared to a RealGM forum or something, this is a pretty solid community. Pretty much everyone who visits this site is a Celtic fanatic. You get some casual fans who stumble in once in a while, but a lot less than a big name site that draws in random observers.

People here disagree with each other a lot, but it's part of what makes this part of sports fandom fun... Especially in the midst of a rebuild where the actual product is lackluster.

Latest Forum Topics is my favorite part.  I get to see others poke holes in my ideas, and once in a while get confirmation of them.  It's the best.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
That I know of, the only other decent Celtics forum would be the RealGM boards. There's a fair share of 'droolers' on there too though.
You should see some of the crap there, it's just as bad as here. Check out some of the other team's forum pages- their trade ideas are hilarious. I won't even begin on the 'General basketball' board at RealGM.

As with all interwebs forums, it's much like how Cartman talks about his favorite online web chat site...
'this is seriously an amazing gathering place where people from all over the world can share their thoughts and ideas..if you wanna find some quality friends (posters) you just gotta wade through the dicks first '

(Caution, may offend some)

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

…the forum is just ridiculous. Often enough I simply can't believe what I'm reading here.

It starts with all the Rondo-bashing, which I really can't understand, since he's the last guy around from our championship team.

I really doubt you could go to another Celtics message board where you won't find some sort of bashing of particular players. but Rondo in particular, the feeling I've gotten from Celtics fans is it's a split subject - some people like 'em, some don't.

I won't even start about some "trade ideas" some guys here come up with…

I tend to agree about the "trade ideas". I suggest not coming here when the season's over, they get worse and post them in the wrong forum, with very misleading titles.
