Kobe should also be in the early MVP talks with LeBron, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, Carmelo, Curry, Thompson and Rose.

I guess he is the Lakers Most Valuable Player  ;D

This is bad even for a Lakers homer like Magic. He must be losing it, or he was paid to push the Lakers hype machine of Kobe this season as they have nothing else to market on a non-playoff team with their lottery pick out for the year.

I think a lot of it is that people feel bad for Kobe, to the point of ignoring the ways in which he's contributing to the mess since his point totals are still pretty high.

You're not gonna win MVP playing for a 15 win team even if you're dropping 50 ppg.

I am kind of embarrassed for Magic that he said that.  Kobe isn't anywhere near an MVP player.  If their roster had 1 or 2 other decent starting rotation players, Kobe's numbers would be no-where near what they are now, or what they might be at the end of the year.

Maybe Magic is getting some heat from the Lakers front office to help prop up a bad team / bad season.  It is weird though because Magic in the recent past has been pretty critical of Jim Buss and the questionable front office decisions.

He probably just threw him in there so he wouldn't have to hear he's a "hater" from the kobe zealots if he left him off the list.

I don't know -- if Kobe managed to average 50ppg on a 15 win team I'd vote for him.

Rose in MVP talks? He's played 2 games and has only averaged 23.5 minutes per.

Really?  I guess it would be impressive to average 50, but still...

Kobe will probably be really fortunate to get through the whole season healthy at this point.  Especially if he is going to be logging 35-40 min a night still.

It's time for Magic to take off the homer glasses I guess.
39 points on 37 shots? Ball hogging? Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing at the refs everytime they are not calling a foul, while your team shoot an undeserved 40+ free throw? Obviously hack a guy after you are not get a call and still get away with it? Kobe is like a reality show. Teammates? They should be happy to carry his bags. That's what teammates for, right?

For what?  The most valuable player on the crappiest team in the NBA?  The media's not gonna take the bait on something like that.  Sure, the "50" looks nifty and all but here's no way they'd name someone in that situation the MVP of the league if they're sitting at the bottom of the standings about 25-30 games out of an 8 seed in the playoffs.

This season is not going to end well for the Lakers, and I'm not talking about missing the playoffs, that's a given.

Mostly Because it would be hilarious and I don't hold the MVP award in very high regard. You'd have to be a special kind of awful to pull that feat off, I don't even know how you could.
